Didn't know Mike had a YT channel. I know his MPG courses though and imo they are simply the most in depth tutorials/courses on mixing, compressing, equing, etc, out there. There is no need for anything else beside those on those matters ever, he covers both theory and practice brilliantly.

I really don't understand the point of posts like this, I mean if you don't like something, just keep it moving and never click it again. Also I watched the video (I have watched his some of his other videos before), and I don't see what the problem is. If I actually cared to do what he was doing, the video would've have helped me. Telling us not to support his channel is going a bit far in my opinion, but then again, this is the internet..Do as thou wilt..

 

It depends in what you're looking for. Youtube's algorythms always show you the most soul destroying trending Crap!
All of the good and decent videos are subdued and shadowbanned by the way. Whatever your interests, if you use the right keywords, you will find some great treasures. LOL

 

The Guys who promote this stuff are usually only in it for the readies!

I have to disagree with my good friend Talmi on this. This guy, Mike or whatever, may have had some good funny vids but he's totally gone to wasting people's time. I mean look at his Soothe video. He doesn't even understand what the plug is supposed to do.

Some people wonder why he has a mohawk. Story is, he once fought a bear, nearly died and was left to die in the woods by his mixbus friends.

 

Wow, I didn't notice it. And usually I always check for that. His content was less click baity and superficial before he moved from Italy (?) to L.A. He's just Small fish in a big pond now trying to maintain, I guess .

 

The problem I have with White Sea - taken from his name Wytze - is that, while they are superficially entertaining, I see no value in trying out plugins on tracks that are already mastered. The other thing is that he always says he is using Sandstorm by Darude which we all know is a lie. Don't know if he is sponsored by Darude and gets paid for every mention but it destroys any credibility for me.

A good channel for me is inthemix. Really nice and genuine guy and whilst it is largely FL Studio based, there are still some useful things to learn.

 

I've never watched his YT channel tbh. If you say his reviews are bad, I frankly would just trust you. Was talking about his full courses, which aren't about products reviews and stuff. I'm actually not subscribed to anyone yt channel. I think it's a youngster thing, following someone and crap. I don't really care how many subscribers x or y has, since most of the followers are just noobs discovering the audio world. I ca'nt think of anyone I know actually taking any of those channels seriously. People I know read books and manual, they train and test stuff, they don't follow any guru yt channel advices. Even me, and even as a noob, I've always had as a general rule to make my own opinion about plugins, hardware, daws or whatev.
Giving credits to those numbers is giving credit to hype, not my thing really.

@Talmi I am with you. My interaction with those yt vids is simply on the informative. I don't follow anyone on tube etc. I'm too old for that. But if you can't test a plug, you google for reviews to see if any worthy enough reviewer has put this to the test. That's how i stumbled on that dude and he was just messing with what he saw on screen. But if you say he has some good full courses then i take your word for it .

 

If people spent half as much time recording and mixing that they do complaining about stupid shit online.... imagine how much farther along they'd be.

Not directed at anyone, just a general observation on the internets, especially on youtube.

Back to tracking.......

I would say I am the opposite and really enjoy White Sea Studio. I agree that some of the reviews are not very in-depth but generally he is spot-on with those snake oil clips.
