The trouble with alot of amps and pedals is that they can suck quite a bit of bottom end out of your synth bass. someone mentioned the acapulco pedal earlier in this thread and i think its only fair to mention that i have owned several earthquaker devices pedals and none of them handle line level signals particularly well. There are some good options in the pedal world for synth bass that i have found to offer up everything from subtle warmiing to allout sonic destruction whilst still retaining the heft of the original bass. The electro harmonix ehxtortion is a relatively affordable pedal with some very serious tone shaping option and may be my favourite synth bass pedal even over more expensive options. The other classic is the moogerfooger mf101 filter pedal which has great drive and obviously that peerless moog ladder filter which always sounds great, though good luck paying the second hand asking prices for these now that moog have for some insane reason decided to cease production of the foogers

    Seconded

Guitarists and bassists seem almost unanimously dissatisfied with amp plugins. I don’t know much about that but I think trash 2 is awesome for synth bass. The convolution module and IRS set it apart from other distortions

Izotope spends so much time on pumping out yearly updates for Neutron, which could really use a year of fixes and maintenance. Meanwhile they don’t seem interested in a trash2 upgrade which is something I might actually buy

"The algorithm adds overtones to an existing sound in a way that isn’t possible with ordinary distortion or filtering." Sounds like RBass or MaxxBass from Waves.

in the ampeg svt you can remove the shell around the end tubes...so they dont get used up or broken by tremor

There something about large glass tubes with high plate and screen voltages , biased hot like splattered glass when the transformers cooking it's like hot sex.
    The sound is so holographic.
A breakup that's crackles and folds over while retaining the note separation no matter what

Best amp is very subjective. Everyone will have their own preferences. For me, you could use any amp simulator pretty much, whether it's Positive Grid, AmpliTube, Guitar Rig, S-Gear, Plugins Alliance, UAD or whatever else. It's more about how you dial in the tone to suit your project that the plugin used (assuming you are talking about plugins?).

For me though, I always go for the Ampeg simulations as a starting point for any bass sound I want to add an amp to!

....though that probably comes from my days of having played through one for a previous band and fell in love with it :)
