    I've been searching for 90 mins on this site and can't find an answer. I, too, keep getting the 'encrypted samples' error. I've tried all the solutions here to no avail. I'm using Kontakt 5.8.1 on Mac 10.12.
    Here's what I've done so far: Added LIB using Kontakt 5.6.0. Matched SNPID's to get LIB to show up. I tried deleting the XML and PLIST both together and one at a time (which only cause the LIB to disappear). Is there a solution? Could anyone PM me? Thanks SO much!

    Did you delete the .plist file in both Library/Preferences locations?
    One is in the root, the other is in the user-specific Library. In Finder click in the menu Go then press and hold the Alt key, so there will appear the Library on the list in menu Go, you click on that Library and there you look for the .plist file inside Preferences folder.

    Thanks so much for the response. I had not tried that. Unfortunately it didn't seem to fix the problem. If I delete just the .plist on the USER level I get the 'encrypted samples' error. If I delete the .plist files on both the USER level and the top HD level the library tab disappears within Kontakt. If I go in to the FILES tab within Kontakt and try to load manually I get the 'encrypted' error. If I delete just the .plist on the top HD level that, too, makes the library tab disappear.
    I feel like I'm so close to solving this! I really appreciate any insight this community might have.

    Did you try to readd the library with 5.6.0 after deleting both .plist files and .xml?
    Did you check among the xml files if other lib doesn't already use the same SNPID number that this lib that you try to add?

    Thanks for the reply! Still not working. I checked the SNPIDs...no duplicates. Deleted both .plist and .xml. Readded. LIB disappeared. Changed NEWLY created .xml from "000" to match .nicnt "P000" and LIB reappeared. Still getting "ERROR: could not read encrypted sample (library not registered?)" :<

    Is that .nicnt the original or created by you?

    The .nicnt is original. Not created by me. Thanks.

    SOLVED: Hey jazzzz, thanks for pointing me to the correct path! I went on the hunt for another .nicnt file and sure enough I found one with a different SNPID number. I replaced the old .nicnt file with the new one. Then put the new SNPID number into the .xml file. I did not have to delete the two .plist files. They are still in their respective folders. So happy!

    Demo-mode on the instrument in Kontakt? (Mac)
    (I assume you already have Kontakt and Native Access).

    1. Install an old version of Kontakt (I've installed Kontakt 5.6.1)
    2. Replace standalone and plugins with led ones - to folders: ../Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/ (VST in VST, Component in Components)
    3. Open your DAW - Find "Kontakt 5"
    4. Enjoy! :)

    Hey guys, was hoping I could get some advice. running macOS Mojave 10.14.5 . Kontakt 5.8.1, a legitimate version. my friend is letting me use his legit license, so I have a bunch of fully functional legit instruments working just fine in kontakt. I don't want to do anything to risk his account, as well.

    I've read through many threads and am still unsure how to continue. I recently got my hands on a nonlegit version of Spitfire Chamber Strings, moved the folder into my content folder for Native Instruments. I checked the SNPID in the nicnt, and it matches the NativeAccess xml file in Native Instruments/Service Center. (there was no standalone xml just for spitfire). There were two inconsistencies however,

    (1) The <product version> in native access xml was "2", in nicnt was "1"
    (2) The <poweredby> in native access xml was "Kontakt", in nicnt was "Kkontrol"

    I've tried the process multiple times, both without editing and editing the nicnt.

    When loading the instrument either standalone or in DAW, I get

    "This instrument belongs to a library that is currently not installed"

    There seems to be some debate about what the most up-to-date method of resolving this is. Is it still the case that I need a K'ed version [v 5.6.0 or below?] in order to install the library? And that once the library is installed on that version I will be able to move it to current legit version? does this pose any risk for my friend who has so graciously let me use his native access/native instruments license? Is there now a better method? Thank you so much, this community is AWESOME!

    AFAIK, you can't load non-legit libraries in legit Kontakt. At least on mac.
    Work around: get a windows pc, connect it with the mac via gigabit ethernet, install Vienna Ensemble Pro on the pc, load its server app on it and use the free VEP vst plugin in your DAW on your mac.
    Get Kontakt portable on the pc and add these instruments in it. Load it in VEP. That's all.

    I recently put my hands on Cinematic Studio Solo Strings as I've been disappointed by Spitfire Solo Strings, so I wanted to try the Cinematic one,

    I usually have no problem managing new libraries using kontakt 5.6.5 & 6.0.4, and modifying the xml file according to the nicnt file of the library, but this time I can't,

    the problem seems to be the nincnt SNPID number which in this case is 9999, yes that's 4 digits,

    in short the library does appear in Kontakt 6, but when trying to load an instrument file, the famous message appears : "this instrument belongs to a library that is currently not installed".

    By default, the xml files created when adding the library writes the SNPID with 3 digits = "999",

    whether with 3 (999)or 4 digits (9999) after modification, the same message : "this instrument belongs to a library that is currently not installed"

    I also tried to change the nicnt file to modify the line with SNPID from "9999" to "999", but that doesn't work either.

    Any help would be appreciated, because I'm stuck there for hours... !!

    PS : I read around here that there is nicnt fix file for this library,
    in the release I'm using there are 2 nicnt files, one is in a backup folder and the other in the root folder of the library, but both files seems to be the same, below is the code :

    Code:
    /\ NI FC MTD  /\1.0––<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no" ?>
    <ProductHints spec="1.0.9">

      <Product version="1">

        <Name>Cinematic Studio Solo Strings</Name>

        <AuthSystem>RAS2</AuthSystem>
        <SNPID>9999</SNPID>
        <ProductSpecific>
          <Visibility type="Number">3</Visibility>
        </ProductSpecific>
      </Product>

    </ProductHints>
    /\ NI FC MTD  /\H‘/\ NI FC TOC  /\.db.cacheH‘ÒÒÒÒÒÒÒÒ/\ NI FC TOC  /\<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no" ?>

    </soundinfos>

    If you found a nicnt fix release, you should get the one that says SNPID is P16
    What ever you try, after unsuccessful attempts, you must clean your system off those wrong files with the name of the library, not only the xml from Service Center, also the .plist files in Preferences. In both Library locations, the main Library in root of the system disk and the user specific Library that is hided and you need to press ALT button while click on Go menu in Finder.

    And it's better using 5.6.0 to add libraries instead of 5.6.5 but this is not related directly to your issue.

    thanks for your answer jazzzz, I found another topic where someone posted the code of that file where SNPID is P16, but so far I had no success using it, will try once more.

    one question though, is the nicnt file crossplatform (win/mac) ?

    So deleted 3 files : the xml from Service center,

    then both plist files from the 2 different "library/preferences" folder,

    then open the "wrong" nicnt file, deleted the content, copy & paste the content from the other nicnt file where SNPID is P16.

    Add the library with K 5.6.5, at the end it crashes after I validate the permanent changes, the problem is then the xml files isn't created in the "service center" folder. So no way to load it

    Use 5.6.0, please. That crash is why I suggested it instead of 5.6.5

    Nicnt is crossplatform, yes. But be careful when you modify it, not to format it as plain text.

    Plists are harmless. Particularly that one in User dir: it does contain just the position number in the K library rows.
    What does matter is delete the xml file in Service Center folder. Nothing else.

    Also, I'm using K. version 5.6.6 to add libraries and always works.
    Tested once version 5.6.0 and it failed miserabily,LOL.

    At last, managed to find another torrent with the fixed nicnt file, got it to replace the wrong nicnt file,

    and I didn't delete this time any plist file, used my K 5.6.5 to add the library, xml file WAS indeed created this time, changed the SNPID from 000 to P16,

    and all is ok now, thanks for your support guys :wink:
