hi there !!!
I would like to record an electric guitar solo into several parts(take) but "ONLY" on one track.
first of all I click on the monitoring button and record the first part of my solo ,
then I use the punch-in function and set the left and right locators for the second section of my solo
here comes my problem
to record the second part of the solo I need to hear the first part that i've recorded before but if I keep the track armed(monitoring button activated ) I do not hear the first part if don't i'll hear the first part but not the second one that I'll have to record
how can i solve this ???
i use cubase 5

i would like to anwers your question.
I use Samplitude. In samplitude, there is an option window comes out, when you right click on the "click" button which is metronom click . There is an option such as " Play VIP during precount" if this button is checked, the record can be heard (which is recorded before on the same track). There must be similar function in cubase as in Samplitude.

i dont use cubase for a while but if i can remember, use punch-in and
set your monitoring to Tape Machine Style in the File->Preferences->VST
