    The title says it all. What's your opinion/choice?

    I'd say either MusicBee or Winamp. Winamp is undergoing some changes right now, so it's a bit uncertain, but MusicBee is a bit similar to it, so I'm using it while I wait and see where Winamp is headed.

    I've tried AMIP but I don't like it as much as I like Winamp and MusicBee. I haven't found a way to automatically scan and add music the way the two aforementioned do. That's really my only gripe with it at the moment. Maybe it's there but I am just not seeing it.

    for simple playback: foobar2000

    for library, mobile syncing, podcasts and stuff: mediamonkey. Far better than itunes imho. I run mediamonkey's database on my nas and sync our houshold's mobile devices wirelessly to it automatically when they're in the same network - and I define what I want synced for every device seperately. Podcasts and techno for my mobile phone, rock and stuff for my wife's phone, and so on. All without drm crap and all the data remains in my control. Awesome :like:

    foobar for win and vox for mac but there are a few others that claim hi-fi playback for mac such as swinsian and fidelia.

    Aimp3 or 4

    It's lightweight and sounds great!
    It also has some beautiful 3rd Party skins.

    No, Nightingale is a bit buggy and clumsy.

    If you're on Windows, the best music players which are also able to organize large collections are Mediamonkey and Music Bee.

    I've used Mediamonkey for years, but changed to Music Bee recently and couldn't be happier; It's easy to customize (unlike Foobar), reads all sorts of formats and it's a fully functional organizer as well...Both play well with iphones, ipads, etc...

    Oh, and I forget to mention that Music Bee is also FREE. :)

    Was fumbling with Traktor and then Winamp until I came across Aimp. THe version 4 Beta works great running at 64bit.

    Closest to hardware stereo sound that I have come across.

    Foobar2000 hands down. Not many players can play through ASIO, have a built-in converter and tagger and play SACDs.

    Great GUI works both PC/tablet and Windows Phone, can download songs and other cool options. I have it on my phone is really a beautiful app and it's free. But it requires Windows 10 or Windows phone to run.

    Foobar or Aimp or Musicbee. (For Audio Only)
    For both Video and Audio - Meida Player Classic Home Cinema is Better than VLC.... VLC is old now.. It was best player few years ago.. But today, ether MPC HC or PotPlayer.

    I have tried all of them for atleast one year. Yes everyone of them were my favourite for dirrent times. But my Suggestion is for today.
    I personally use Foobar and MPC HC. They cause smallest footprint on my pc and works very fast and have never failed me. All my recommendations is for a windows user. I dont know mac..

    Spider Player Pro 2.5.3's radio directory is able to this day stream Shoutcast,
    Aimp3(aimp_v3.50.1277)'s radio directory stream's AceCast,

    + both can be set up to play any radio station(as far as they stream on the net and you can find it's URL) with the URL of the station
    +both can load with(VST_Bridge_v1_6,WINAMP-VST-1.1.6,or Acon's EffectChainer102us) x86 VST plugins to furtder enhance the quality of the sound

    Can anyone saggest x86 vst plugs like Ozone4, Cakewalk Vintage Channel VC-64, or any EQ to enhance streams of the live Talk/Music stations and preferably with same presets because I'm not an EQ guru

    For fast playback I have AIMP set as default player.
    ==============================================================================
    I use the portable version via LiberKey. although I only use LiberKey and PortApps as quick updaters, and I run most of the apps from their native .exe instead of the portable.exe. I don't like to run LiberKey or PortApps in the background and I don't care if they write to the registry and I don't carry my settings with me if I copy my "Portables" folder to use on another machine. I then use the portable app .exe to avoid writing in OTHER people's registries)
    ==============================================================================
    I use MusicBee (portable version / setup) to browse music and other audio (audiobooks, etc.)

    You can place the portable in a main media folder so it keeps all settings when run.

    I do not let MusicBee organize my Audiobooks, as it seemed to difficult to set up the way I like.

    For music, I let MusicBee organize and it was easy enough because I just use standard "Artist" folders just removed the "album" from the folder creation template because I don't like album subfolders.
    (I can see album, year, artwork, etc in MusicBee, but like to keep my library easy to manage via the OS or other programs,too.)
