Not sure if all studios use abbreviations like tbe (time based effects) or spe (signal processing effect) but learn thier language sooner than later.

Great news and I'm very happy for you.

Most of the things in the beginning will revolve around common sense issues like not leaving coffee stain rings on a table and wrapping cable correctly (a SUPER important skill to learn if you don't know already). And remember that there are no stupid questions, so ask if you are not 100% sure about performing a given task. After a short while you will get into a flow and be able to anticipate the needs of engineers before they ask you to do something. Also, in the beginning your opinion on any number of decisions will likely be unappreciated, so if you see something screwy don't point it out but rather ask a pertinent question that will initiate resolution. Watch everything and store it away for later. Always make yourself useful...if there's time enough to lean there's time enough to clean...dust on equipment, fingerprints on the control room window, etc. Try to take particular interest and latch onto the person if there is one that fixes stuff like bad solder joints, troubleshooting audio chains and wiring up things to other things not in common view. These skills will add to your skillset and create your greater worth as a future engineer or even producer.

    Best of luck!

hahaaa I remember having to do that in a course I took, I failed so miserably that I went home and practiced on extension cable for a good hour or two till I got it right... the skill has stayed with me since and I always use it. I went from having crappy handyman ability to being someone that could wrap cables correctly :D

It's actually a very useful life skill since I always end up finding myself wrapping some cables or cords somehow...

Congratulations are well deserved, I'm sure. Keep with it, brother. Focus and listen openly to what other may have to say. Make the most of every opportunity. It's so good when great things happen.

    Best of Luck to you.
Did you apply as an Audio Engineer?
Thats what I really like about USA. It looks like if you are dedicated and skilled enough you can get into a certain position without formal education of a school or university or the requirements of some sort of certificate. In Germany that's hardly the case unless you are working in the creative field.
