..pls understand, it was meant to be a joke.. you're one of the forum "proverbial" experts on this subject.

As of AI - don't even have a problem with it not being perfect.. In fact it just might be the thing that bothers me. Let's take photography for analogy. AI process in a camera can expose every shot perfectly. What if I purposely want it overexposed..? How will AI ever know what do I want to be in focus? It's the same w/ music..

About OP's question.. I know many of our mastering engineers preferred 5 over later versions. Don't ask me why. Also remember there was a "trick" to put two instances in series and a micro amount of reverb in between..

iZotope plugins are too slow, resource hungry, introduce too much plugin latency and often crash,
I rather pick Fabfilter or Melda whenever I can, to be honest

I stay with 5, tried 6 and 7 and forgot about updates. 5 is really great, always in my master buss for anything.

First of all, good question because like thousands people are asking themselves.

It seems the last version, bugs aside, it's very slow but it actually improves for individual plugins.
Since I have a very old PC I'll stick with v8 and I'll even try v7, since @r4e knows a couple things about music soft.

That really cranked me up

BTW, I kept only the Ozone 5 EQ for several years because it was the best for EQ matching. Until I discovered Melda MFreeFormEq.

v.8 is good enough, and much faster. The functionality is almost identical. Also, I prefer most of v.8 plugin user interfaces over those rather obfuscated in v.9. So I'll keep on with v.8 and just start using Low End Focus from v.9 only, which is a great news, offers a lot of opportunities, and works very well.

Deadly easy and fast for EQ matching and the great bonus: you can export to an IR wav. Undisputed..

I tried Ozone 9 a while ago, out of curiosity. I'll tell you something when it finishes loading...

Now seriously, WTF?? It loads faster Kontakt with Shreddage 3 Stratus...
But the individual ones load slow(er than v8) but acceptable, with comparable CPU usage.

I use the 8, but just install the 9 and seems to be the same with more option, so I'll slowly switch to that for new project. But this version is suppose to be faster to load, but take a really long time to do, but it's a R2R version, so can't complain about it to customer service :) Maybe a new update will fix that

What's annoying with Ozone plugin is that they update every year and change the name of the plugin, so it's not really retro compatible. You can use old preset, but you have to keep older version to be able to open an old project. They should do a sort of update where changing a version doesn't change the name and an old project can recall the lastest version even when it's made with a older version.

Other than that, it's great tool and can give good suggestion when sometime you feel stuck in your project and need a different "ear" to give a fresh look on it.

I have 5,8 & 9. But only really use 5 now, if at all.
Got 5 when it came out, kind of liked it, but it felt strange to be using one manufacturer to 'master' with. But then it grew on me, for a few years. Did some great tracks with it, but never would dream of using its components on individual channels; just used it to 'master' with.
Then recently, out of curiosity, got 8 & 9 to test the AI thing. Not impressed though. Will probably delete them on principle!
