I think if you are using it in a forum where most of the users here most likely live in a place where it is considered a no go or hate speech, you don't use the term. I don't care what other byzantine cultures who haven't caught up to doing what's right do, it's not the way the world works, or is going. I wouldn't continue use of the term on this forum.

Let me clarify: I didn't use the word "faggot" to refer to homosexuals or anything like that. It's a general word to refer to someone you dislike or who is annoying, like cunt, douche, twat, dickhead, etc. I confess to have not read the latest American Political Correctness guide, but the world isn't just America, and you don't get to decide what's "right" or not. Maybe we're Byzantine for not being afraid of swear words, but to us Americans look horribly Puritan and childish for making such a big deal out of them.

Well, first of all I'm not in america, so take that off the docket. Second, I have travelled the whole world, and even in the deep south of america where it was ok to use the n word to refer to african americans, even 'most' of them have grown out of it, and certainly you don't see southern people using it with their names attached to it on tv or radio or whatnot.

That said, English is not my native language, but I always thought that "fagot" used in this context was a denigrating term toward homosexuals. So if many people understand it that way, it may be better to use another term, given that there are many more to say the same thing.

Going back to the thread in itself, please English people correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that the expression " snake oil" comes from the ancient times when scammers were selling products that were supposed to cure anything and give strength etc...
So projected to nowadays and to vst world, snake oil should not be used to say that a plugin is bad, but when a plugin is sold as doing something it does not do.
Example: A plugin that have the appearance of an old known hardware, and is marketed as a recreation of it, but does nothing like the hardware it is supposed to virtualize.
