I agree 100% with what you say, not with how you say though.

For me that's the big problem with this debate. Technically snake oil means what you say, nothing that's supposed to do. A scam. But most people seems to think that applied to plugins it just means "a bad plugin".
So don't complain later if the people that think "snake oil means scam" question your mental health. Too big words lead to too big critics.

I don't like that channel. They're reviews for himself and he's almost a corner case for a music producer YTber. Small niche market if you fancy. Very prone to mislead inexperienced audience. If you need to know beforehand the particulars of a YTber reviews it's him/her fault. Put a big disclaimer in every one like some do.

if someone makes the 1,000th compressor plugin, and adds words like "This compressor will roll cigarettes for you and wash your socks" If you can't hear the difference between that compressor and the other 999 compressors, then the plugin adds nothing to the field, and therefore it's only feature is marketing, and marketing doesn't change the sound, so that's the same as snake oil.
