so the golden rule here is ONLY DL FROM TRUSTED SOURCES...........some peeps jump on anything just to have it, better stuff out than autotune, your own fault for getting a virus, soz

 

Its actually an old Method for Crypto Miners to spread.

VirtualBox is an application that allows you to run different Operating Systems.

This Batch will run the other OS (Linux in this example appearantly), which is then starting the Mining Process.

The linked article has a lot of info about that, and best practice to avoid something like that will always be to only install trustworthy releases.

 

A couple of more issues has appeared. Defender suddenly turned off (I could turn it on again without any issues) and when I tried to make a image recovery from boot that option was gone. Luckily I have a clone too, so gonna use that. I'm unsure if it is the virus or the restore point which creating these new issues. Very strange that the image recovery option is gone. My experience with restore points is that it often create strange unsolvable issues

I don't think Image Recovery shows without booting from a USB repair. It showed up when I used that and I did a Image Recovery. Also Defender scan offline did not work on the old system either. So that was not caused by virus

Yeah i agree but when it was posted on sister site i thought it was safe and the uploader was no stranger he has uploaded stuff before i guess he didnt check it before he posted it.

well i did not see that post, but in general only dl from sister site and only from trusted uploaders and not some random post, and always scan archives before unpacking then scan again unpacked before you even think about hitting the installer

 

Oh i very very rarely do that in fact i dont even have an AV installed i have been doing fine with a good firewall for many many years i think i have had virus or malware 4-5 times since mid 90,s i think last time was 2007 and it ended up with a reinstall of Windows.
