    Yes, I had seen that, well not THAT link, which reads as a lot easier then previous explanations/workarounds I have read to be honest.... Will look into if I am interested in getting a TB interface or whatnot, I was gifted at 27" apple TB monitor (one of the last they made), but only use it with my laptop...

    @Gyro Gearloose
    You know my friend, as someone who has used Mac, Amiga, Atari and PC extensively through the course of my life, at 53 i find it intolerable to witness fanboyism. You can name me many things but biased -i like to believe- i am not. We 're supposed to be artists dammit, open minded free thinkers. I never had any intention of turning this thread into one more mac vs pc battle. Anyone mature enough knows all platforms have their strengths and weaknesses. So what are all these declarations like
    Seriously ? Don't you think in 2019 this is kinda ridiculous ?
    I shouldn't even quote you mate. You live in a parallel universe. In this universe here, every comp that uses an intel or amd cpu is a pc. And mac is a pc. It runs windows brah. And pc runs macos, get it ? They are made from the very same components, so are either both garbage or they 're not. Simple as that. And talking about garbage components... You ever heard of Louis Rossman? Apple techs have. Here's an example of the blatant truth, enjoy:

    I also used to work with Cubase 32 and atari 520.
    This is not ridiculous. If you read my first post, I explain that on a 3 months old brand new PC laptop, I had to get in touch with microsoft because the W10 was down.
    I have never faced this kind of issue in 10 years with OSX from Leopart to el capitan. I can even not remenber 1 fatal crash on OSX or a driver issue.
    I have always had issue with windows, virus, bloat software, driver issue, I remember the need to use a registry cleaner every week in order to keep Window clean.
    Never did that on mac.
    This is why now I use OSX or Linux.

    :rofl::hahaha:
    You should 've tried something that can be used on a daily basis or even more often, like this :
    Windex.jpg
    That's it guys, thank you all for your opinions, i think the op has reached his verdict, i 'll skip getting into any "unpleasantries", i think continuing will only get this thread locked up and righteously so.
    Cheers

    he may have a point here...f.... win10
    but new win hardware from the trusted devs is top or lets say good

    bloatware you got only if you buy allready set up PC which ones you buy eg at dell to avoid bloatware but all bloatware is removable if you dont buy at such
    bout virus...i dont use av and did have 2-3 infections in decades and two of them happened when i was still using av...and always my dumb fault to get infected
    sure on linux are less attacks..thats why we all use linux for legit stuff with money or addresses etc involved...
    driver issues ??:dunno::dunno::dunno:
    registry cleaner every week or pc not working as he should :dunno::dunno::dunno:

    on ssd i dont clean often and i realize zero difference in performance before or after...

    Yes exactly,I read on Wikilieaks that antiviruses were basically viruses and spywares used by NSA (especially Kaspersky).
    5 years I don't use antivirus and no problem since this date.

    I've never tweaked my registry.

    Drivers issues?Well,download it when you have something wrong and that's it.If it's just these little annoyances that justify to spend 2 or 3K on a Mac,"think different" ,buy and be a sheep.
    And I guess Mac users have to download drivers for their audio interface as well.

    No, I have never donwloaded a driver for my audio/midi interfaces on OSX of for other devices.
    Several years ago, I purchased a PC laptop for music and it was unusable. Every minutes a glitch noise came out of my audio card and it was due to micro cuts in the motherboard and power management.
    So another reason I stay away from PC for music making.

    Because you probably stick with AU plus and CoreAudio. Apple's CoreAudio produces better latency than WDM in Windows but ASIO still has some advantages and you definitely need to install it.
    The built-in audio chip in Macbooks is a Realtek just as in every other laptop. There is no superior component in Macbooks. In all laptops, audio chips are all too close to other equipment that may emit Electro Magnetic Interference, producing unwanted noise, hum etc.
    PS: i can name at least 10 laptops in the same price range as the top Macbook Pro that outperform it in everyway and some of them can run MacOs too.
    Be well

    I mainly use VST instead of AU
    Audio glitches happened with USB audio interfaces, I don't make music with the built-in audio chip !
    Which PC laptops can run OSX, this could be a solution, as I said, i'm pragmatic, not Apple fan boy.

    Well, USB audio can be glitchy in Windows if you don't know what to do.
    So we speak the same language, since version 10.12 (Sierra), Mac OS X is named macOS. But np, here's some links :)

    https://bestlaptopsworld.com/best-hackintosh-laptops/
    https://gadgetsenthusiast.com/laptop/best-hackintosh-laptop/

    And for the desktop build :
    https://www.tonymacx86.com/buyersguide/building-a-customac-hackintosh-the-ultimate-buyers-guide/
    You will find you have more than enough selections, if you go this way just remember to select the components wisely. If in doubt ask here on in the tonymac forum https://www.tonymacx86.com/forums/, they have hundreds of peeps there and are very helpful.
    Cheers

    @fredboudin
    Because the tonymacx86 forum is huge and can be overwhelming if you 're new, here's a laptop section in the forum which has macOS Mojave build guides : https://www.tonymacx86.com/forums/mojave-laptop-guides.197/
    And yes Hackintosh can be anything you make it to be, from a poorman's mac with as little as 300-400 to a multi thousand desktop workstation rivalling any original mac pro :D
    Cheers
