I been reading some posts, I dont know if it's actual bias.
I was a die hard pc nobody could tell me different for years, then I finally got a little money.
Would not trade my mac for anything.
Yep maybe one day something might break, Apple care is stupid cheap.
Full year in and i've had to do nothing except run cleanmymac once a week and it runs perfect.
I remember PC. Constant struggles. Always digging around in the system to fix this or that.

Dont get me wrong, I'd love to have a PC laptop or something for some stuff but not nearly
enough to ever go back.... Try the mac muh man..

as far as upgrade im on newest Update rite now.
what most of these guys are worried about with upgrades, they have SO much fear they are sitting on old systems at this point.
I have the same programs they do running perfect fine.

    I decided to take a used Imac 21 5 Late 2013 16 gb Ram 2,9 ghz i5 480 Gb SSD from a seller, 650 Euros!

I got my Mac Plugins on Externals, been used to it for about 2 1/2 years , so i don‘t have the time to start at zero at this point in time. Time will tell, thx for all the contributions.

Rookie question: is it possible to install Timemachine Backup on a Imac when done on a Mac Book Pro?

im currently searching for something refurbished. Really trying to find someplace that does payments so that i can get something a little nicer.I was a windows user my whole life until i started making music. when i use to see a lot of shows the only thing people performed with was macs so i thought that was a must. Ive really compiled quite the drive of plug is, samples, so i would rather not switch over but this thread is making me nervous. Arent macs much more stable with cracks?

Out of curiosity has anyone had a hardtime downgrading OS's? Is it different if a mac comes with a new OS and you try to downgrade? I've been able to upgrade and downgrand with no problems in the past.

google cleanmymac, it's basically the equivalent to malware on the PC. it's not very good at it's job and can even break parts of macOS. i used to use it all the time as well until it broke parts of my system, if you really want to have a program that does what cleanmymac does but then properly, get ccleaner, you'll prolly remember this program from the dark age when you were on windows.

should be easy. worst case scenario you just make a back up and transfer.

the only thing i keep wondering is why the hell they would do that??? there is nothing wrong with high sierra and it's not incredibly heavy on the systems, hell even my non supported external soundcard still works fine with the drivers from el capitan.

@Retrolize77 i did some googling for ya cause i'm convinced high sierra is just fine, this is what i found:

    high sierra is supported on
    • imac: Late 2009 or later
    • macbook: Late 2009 or later
    • macbook pro: Mid 2010 or later
    • macbook air: Late 2010 or later
    • mac mini: Mid 2010 or later
    • mac pro: Mid 2010 or later
now if a macbook pro from 2010 is supported then i wouldnt be worried about running it on a 2013 macbook

i think this might be the reason why some people think high sierra is heavy on the system:
so when people first installed high sierra when it came out it looked sluggish and lagging

I did upgrade to downgrade when mojavi first came out and I lost Nvidea compatibility among other things. Now I have mojavi running like butter on my secondary and Sierra on primary for Nvidea. Sierra was the last OS before Mac got all totalitarian

one of the main reasons why so many performers use macs is one that isnt mentioned or considered very often: the durability! them macbook pro's last for years! the oldest one i have is from 2009 and it still works, ok the keyboard is a bit fucked but that's more due to me bashing keys. the aluminum body doesnt bend or break so the chipsets and such on the logicboard cant break which is something i can't say for other laptops.

yeah i heard about them not supporting nvidia anymore, but hey that can happen. same thing with native instruments not supporting sierra and high sierra anymore for certain soundcards amongst others. (apart from the fact that apple seems to be blocking the release of decent drivers for mojave)

if you got tons of money and you are willing to buy a new expensive mac in 5 years go ahead its their bussiness plan
It will be obsolete after 5 years and you cant install newer os or new plugins or updates of the plugins you got installed
Or even a new version of Logic as it also folloowq their evil plan which is buy a new peiece of hardware every 3-5 year etc
Only third party stuff from small developer that support older OS is gonna work and even some of them will go on and make stuff that is not compatilble.
I have a Mac Pro that coasted +5000 grand hell i could have bought a Mesa Boogie MKV with a 4x12 Cab for that price it was the worst buy in my entire life i used it for internet for a few year but now its just collecting dust..It is 12 years old now i got a PC i built for 300 back in 2006 that still is working fine oh and i can easely replace all pieces in it ceep the chassi and get a very powerful machine for say 5-700

    Hi!
I would not buy anything by Apple. The reason is simple: time has prooved that their performance is just crap. You pay the brand.

Here you are a comparison between AMD Ryzen CPU and a $5000 MacPro.
    https://www.reddit.com/r/photograph...with_amd_ryzen_cpu_has_twice_the_performance/
And, for those who doesn't want to read, there's a video, too!

EDIT: do yourself a favor and choose more power instead of brand, for a lower price. ;)

My Imac 2007 can run fluently Ableton 10, Reaper 5, Studio one 4, i'm stuck at LP X 10.3 because I can't upgrade El capitan.
Several vst instruments nad effects so a 2012 imac could do the trick.
I will probably update my imac next year when new imac generation will be available.
I'm an Apple hater but let face it I hate Windows even more.
On mac, you don't have to struggle with drivers, OS is user friendly => I bought a audi/midi inteface, on windows there is a procudure for windows users to download and install the drivers and I red on the forum users facing issues with this drivers. On mac : there is 1 line in the user manual : on mac just plug and play it is ready compliant !
I recently bought 2 laptop PC, on the first I installed Linux mint in dual boot because I can't bear Windows 10. Under W10, the laptop fans are blowing a lot but all is quiet under linux, lighter on CPU and ram .
On the second, which is for my son, he uses windows because he need softs for, school not available in linux.
But what a mess, 3 months later, I had to get in touch with microsoft because the laptop did not recognised USB 3 devices and powered off instead of suspend, more than 200 corrupted files were found and bios had to be flashed.
After some months, windows becomes a mess and the registry is a mess.
You also have all that blootware, babylon ... virus. On mac and linux, without even virus protection, I have never caught a virus.

I hate Apple and yes it is over priced, shareholder are fat and iphone are for retarded teenagers... but i am pragmatic, windows is worst.
If needed, on a mac, you can run windows with bootcamp.
And if you want to run logic pro, mac is mandatory.
