the majority of people have no real taste in music at all. People hear what they get from radio stations and streaming platforms. nr 1 hits are not nr 1 hits because they are artistically very valuable, but because they are hammered in an endless loop in the people brains.

As an 'observation':

Most people agree that a small child growing up mirrors what they are exposed to. Many people say humans are creatures of habit. Many people over decades have commented about 'That horrible TV ad I cannot get out of my mind'.

Add all of that together, regardless of how intelligent anyone might be, then compile the constant exposure to something, and it is more than likely that even if what they are exposed to is not loved, it will be remembered. Then finally, apply this to music if the music is good, regardless of the genre/style - Then it's a probability that music will increase in popularity. To add to this, if the style, for example, was as mentioned previously as say classical music, then it almost ceases to be classical music and becomes? Pop Music (Popular).

EDIT: The Point being: - If you wish people to hear or take in 'New music' - they must be exposed to it. I do not mean The Internet marketing slogans which are one part of the picture only, that everyone says' you need exposure' in - I mean it has to bombard the airwaves in one way or another so everyone hears it regularly.

but there certainly are dishonest premises, done without engagement, no honest curiosity and not meant to develop knowledge or cast light over a real issue, but just fill empty space and essentially the problem with this foster "questions".

Humans are potentially intelligent. Taste doesn't much correlate with headpiece but much to what they are exposed to and how they ruminate over them.

 

All-too-easy spoiled public tastes cause the sense for greater things to fall asleep. The sense for greater things seemed asleep in 1800, the scene now is at the point of decadence.
