make it sense a ssd for kontakt libs , as externel harddrive ? is it a big difference compared to normal hd ?

is use a ssd for windows cubase etc but no space anymore for kontakt libs

well its good but a bit overkill seeing as the capacity vs of an SSD is alot more per GB then Standard hard drives. me personally i use NAS drives greaat speed for moving data

I went for 2x2 TB Samsung 860 EVO SSD's for all my libraries this year. Definitely huge boost for Kontakt loading times and sample managers.
Wouldn't go back to spinning drives again.

yes if you can afford it go for it. i can't afford 1tb but yes the library loads faster. I've tested metropolis ark 1 on ssd and hdd and when i used hdd it loads slower plus lags sometimes when more than couple of notes being played at the moment and also it stopped fl once. so yeah definitely ssd is better. but i advice you to buy those newer one or pcie 4 or m.2 whichever is faster. i think it's pcie 4 lan which is faster and newer. i don't have money to buy ssd / hdd no chance i can advise anything about NAS

    Expensive but superb solution!!

SSD external isnt really a good solution imo - I have two myself. It´s ok but SLOWWWWWW as hel*!

    Myself:
I have a SSD as my c-drive (win7/64) and that´s really fast and I can recommend it a lot!

Go for internal SSD, or even m2 drive (PCI-E) for the very fastest speeds, although you will pay a lot more.

I have most of my Kontakt libraries on HD which obviously increases loading time so I reserve a chunk of SSD space for the libraries I use in the current project move them there and just delete them and start again for the next song. Nothing needs to reside anywhere permanently except for the base libraries on disc.

Is an ssd worth it? In my opinion, god yes.

When I built my pc - which was only like 4 years ago - a Samsung evo 250gb was about $100. Now you can get 1tb for around the same amount. Practically no excuse not to have one if speed is important

SSD is definitely worth it, but if it's still too expensive for you and you just want it for kontakt libraries, do batch and resave instead of buying 2TB SSD. Buying a 256-512MB SSD will be enough.

external drives for stuff you dont use daily, there is no point in having specially a mechanic drive connected spinning all day long in vain waiting for it to fail, that same drive could live decades if it was just plugged when needed.

an ssd can be internal or external, it dont matter really. what matters is if its going to be written to very often or not. if its just reading libraries and samples it could live a veeeeery long time.
