From the moment i purchased my new Scarlett 2i2, i realized i had to buy also a DI box, because there isn't the pad button (which my old M-Audio had).
Now, I've read a lot of articles saying that you should use active DI boxes for guitars with passive pickups and passive DI for guitars with active pickups.
I have both type of guitars (one with passive and one with active pickups) and if i could get away with only one di box for both i would be really happy.
So my question is: is there somehing wrong with using active DI with active pickups?

From what i remember, a passive DI is for Passive pickups, but an active DI will work with both.

and from what i understand your scarlet is gen 2 right ?

I'm pretty sure passive DIs are for active pickups and vice/versa (people online recommend that).

    My 2i2 is 3rd gen

Check this post, nothing wrong with active and active, but you will probably need an active di with passive pickups.

an active di is the way to go, but if you got some more cache, try getting a few models and see what works best, also if you ran a studio, having more than one option is always nice, you never know.
