There is also a plugin called kaleidoscope in FCPX I'm sure and also in AfterFX I think.
You can take a combination of things, still photos, video clips and edit them into some spectacular things.

I know Animaudio, i love their work , im subscribed to their youtube.com/channel i guess you can check out all their latest animations there....
As far as i know, Animaudio is using VDMX5 as the program that hold everything, probly also a lot of maya, after fx, and other software where things are created, but definitely seem like the Kaleidoscope effect he is using its been built inside vdmx, i know this because i asked them in their fb group...
They are nice and will respond.
