    With the Roland MC-707, the classic Roland groovebox format is back and better than ever. It's packed with everything you need to compose tracks and perform sets, no computer required. Eight tracks of MIDI sequencing and audio recording is your sonic canvas, with a huge assortment of synth sounds, loops, and phrases ready to produce with. Sixteen expressive pads are perfect for playing in drum parts, bass lines, melodies, and chord progressions. Price is $ 999.

    The same reviewer you quoted concluded that
    I think that it is just a matter of time before Roland releases a super sampler. This could be one of the reasons why Roland decided against giving the MC 707 sampling options. Moreover, Roland is known for releasing products and in a year or 2 making similar product with some extras and substracting some features. The result is that, users end up buying the new one and keeping the old one. Remember the original MC Grooveboxes?

    I don't understand why they didn't make a sampler that would bury their competition. Roland synths are top notch.. so why release a great looking sampler that can't slice loops and no one-shot sampling.. the mind boggles. This is Roland.. I thought this was going to be the new 'Daddy'' of samplers in town.. but no.. sack the CEO lol :dunno:

    Roland has ever been special.All their products sound amazing and are legends for the most part but they always suck by their workflow or menus options.
    But in a whole no synth or drum machine is perfect.

    Home they release a updated MV ! An MV8*00 with:

    * improved GUI, (the original only supported 640x480, but its workflow was/is (imo) much better than Maschine / MPC )
    * faster CPU / loading times, (the MV8*00 was awesome slow as USB1, onstage it took very long until i could finally start playing:)
    * more RAM (>512MB)
    * maybe even motor faders ! (the faders on the mv tend to start jumping since they were simple pots)
    * high resolution optical encoder for durability (not like teh NI crap which feels odd after a short time and finally start jumping either)

    it's not about being perfect it's about having the basic function a sampler should have - simple as that:dunno:

    I told you how Roland operates. I worked in its R&D for years and its MO has not changed one bit. Anyone familiar with Roland will tell you the same thing. Did you read the article? What is the author saying?
    Just wait and see. They did it with the MC 505 and MC 909. There is no doubt in my mind that it will do the same with this MC 707.

    The MC 505 and MC 909 + MC 09, great but terribly flawed machines. Many hours of joy and annoyance...as with all the roland gear I owned.....The groovebox is a great idea, and I learned those and a few electribes inside out...but not sure I would go there again....too many annoying workflow problems....much more productive sticking to ableton, thanks. Or bitwig......

    Apples and oranges. Ableton and Bitwig = you continue be married to a computer. The whole idea behind the MC 707, MPC, etc is to be able to produce a whole track WITHOUT the need for a computer.

    Ha! did sequencing for years with hardware of all kinds. Did live stuff, recorded tracks...Just used computers to record. But I do not miss the expense, hassle and the difficulty of making complex works this way....Yes I could make many tracks but there are ALWAYS limitations with hardware.....Plus I don't believe in marriage, I need no contractual arrangements for love....
