Below 20hz is not audible and your soundcard/speakers can't reproduce that. If you go to the manual of your soundcard/speakers/headphones and see the specs you will see that.

 

on that note, I’m even thinking of starting to cut from 30hz, prolly can’t even hear that either.

Oh believe me, if your equipment can reproduce it, you will certainly hear and feel 30hz.

 

Any lfo is doing what you want but you can't hear that because it is below audible range.

Even if someone make a speaker that goes below 20hz you cant hear that because human hearing is 20-20000hz

 

you must be very careful. 10hz is the mysterious 'brown note'. you will not hear any audio but it will improve your digestion. if you use anything more than a 25watts of amplification you risk disturbing large scale weather patterns and causing tropical cyclones. rick wakeman tried to assassinate a prominent record executive by projecting infrasonic frequencies at him in 1972. please think of humanity, and the children, before experimenting with such dangerous frequencies.

i ussualy cut till 40hz. like 90% of the time

 

In case, you want to find out yourself, what the guys here had stated, do e.g. the following:

Use a DAW software like Cubase / create a so-called sampler track / drop a sinus test signal into it, e.g. 60 Hz / use a real or virtual keyboard to play notes up and down. An octave down from the root key is half the frequency, here 30 Hz. Two octaves down is a quarter of the frequency, here 15 Hz. An octave up doubles the frequency, here 120 Hz. And so on.

Other option is to use a bare synth vsti. Choose a sinus signal for the osc without any filters etc. Play the keyboard up and down.

If going down to low frequencies, carefully watch the bass chassis of your speakers once you start increasing the volume, because hearing less and less sound coming from your speakers. The amp puts a lot of power into the speakers, chassis will be stressed, and there is risk, that both will pass away if going too wild. ;-)

Yeah you're right. With my 12" subwoofer anything below 30hz is basically just rumble. Something you can feel rather than hear.
