Just as I stated some days ago that it's going downwards with the audio software business regarding the ridiculous price droppings of audio software, this may not come as a surprise! It's obvious that there are too many players on the market. Even the big ones have their problems now! We all have noticed that the prices of software has made tremendous droppings in the last 2 years. The renowned companies must reorganize their positions!

I was planning to invest in a 61-key Komplete Keyboard. So will all the previous NKI vsts work right off the bat? Or do you guys think that function is only gonna be avail with a montly subscription in the future?

I stopped caring about what happens to the big companies because their top people get too greedy, and their products get too resource hungry, too. NI used to be great up to the time of Battery 3 and Kontakt 4. Afterwards, it all went downwards. I really don't care where they're heading. All the NI products I still use is Battery 3, sometimes FM7 or 8, and sometimes Kontakt 4 or 5. This is all really great software, brilliant. But when a simple Phaser plugin comes as a 100MB download, you start to think what kind of programmers they started to employ. Who's sons or daughters with very basic skills and MSCE in their pockets. [btw. I heard that those good programmers that programmed B3, K4 and older went on their merry way from NI years ago] Shame to see them go... to the cloud. I'm not going there. There will always be plenty of great 3rd party developers to support.

Company becomes a corporation, corporation becomes bullshit. Just don't be a stupid fanboy of anything, forget about these lost companies, move on, and everything will be just fine.

NI keyboards and hardware in general are very fine products. They won't just stop working if the company goes down, or up in the clouds. But the software side might be the problem... @AirTracK But hey, I don't get it why everybody is all so hung up on updates. I use some hardware from early 2000's and it still works well even though there hasn't been any updates in 2 decades. Software doesn't have to be updated every month to work. You just need a stable driver/software that works with your OS and that's it. Relax and make music.

The cloud is where we all live now, where do you think you are right now reading this? Savage, sorry, Native Instruments are only doing the logical thing, and just like Microsoft they are aligning with the 'online service' lifestyle we are all loving now. Our online buying, food ordering, holiday booking etc. is closing the shops. Online learning will turn classroom teaching on its head. Gimme Netflix, gimme Amazon, gimme emails, WhatsApp, Messenger, CNN and BBC on my phone and gimme my USB stick loaded with YouTube and Spotify-ripped MP3s for the car music (DAB Radio in the car is great too though). We are gradually doing everything online. The internet will turn out to be the social revolution we are going through. This 'Internet Revolution' is bigger than we think it is. NI goes online-service and you have a cissy fit and then go to Adidas.com and buy a pair of shoes. Gimme a break.

Kinda reminds me of Microsoft... especially W10, Office 365, Azure...

I was gonna make a pic, like a MS ad, that says "Orifice 365 - when you just can't get enough of it!"

i just built a new studio machine recently and have been slowly reinstalling everything.

I went through my backup folder of plugin installers and thought carefully about each one before installing it.

I ended up only installing about 30% of them and from Komplete 12 i only installed battery.

I guess that NI noticed this and in a panic decided they must go subscription to lock everyone into the cloud as soon as possible.

Seems like this is my fault, sorry guys.

Looks Like they are going down the subscription model path... well fuck that. Thats why I left Adobe. Plenty of alternatives to having some company with their hand permanently in your pocket.

you can stop reading at "these changes are being made despite growing revenues"

    so, yeah... greedy
if and when you can, support developers who don't f*** both customers and employees.

everyone is complaining about piracy when in the end, musicians are the ones for whom it's more and more difficult to make money.

    sad (but true)

I hope the engineers get together and form their own company and put NI out of business. :knock: :trolls::trashing:
Use hardware not software and get more creative with it. :keys::metal::dj::drummer:

In short >> "Developing new software cost too much money now (Hello Massive X !!!) and we basically developed everything already, so we can't make enough money until we charge a monthly fee..."
