All fashion goes out-of-fashion but some fashion returns (or not).

I disagree with Oscar, Fashion is a form of self expression, like music should be. What is the solution then? Everyone has to dress and act an acceptable way? Someone who follows a fashion trend purely for conformity isn't fashionable.

C´mon, fashion a form of self expression? Think again man. Fashion is what the critics and the media establish by enacting or agreement on self-expression of other people, artists, thinkers, or whoever launch a new proposal.

It's admirable how Jeans have remained wearable for so long; first worn by farmers, prisoners and cowboys 100 years ago, then made 'fashionable' in the 1950s by people like Elvis and an actor called James Dean. They wore them to annoy older people. The T-shirt was underwear, the teenagers wore that to horrify the adults whio, btw became 'old' very early, in their 40s, not like today when many people still live the youthful life in their 60s.
To answer the question, I think KungPaoFist (above) has it right. To prevent something from going out of fashion, it has to be un-fashionable in the first place, then logically it can never go 'out' of fashion. But this is problematic. New inventions come along and we KEEP them. Say the trainers, or plimsoles/tennis shoes, which were first worn by the Hollywood stars of the 1940s/1950s casually and caught on. It wasn't until the 1970s that the masses took on the trainers as a must-have casual item. It was fashionable to have the latest Adidas trainers, but look, the trainers are still a must-have shoe for everyone. In fact the (let's be honest) shabby uniform of jeans and trainers are still being worn as classics that most people would say will never go out of fashion. For a few years I must admit I prefer to wear jogger pants with trainers for everyday going around. NIKE recently brought in a make-over for the trainer that every other company copied, but they are still trainers, there are just a million variations on the same theme. With music I think the same thig has happened... the ballad has not changed much in forever, just the music because new instruments were invented but the vocals are not changed much. Rock has been a screaming frenzy for 60 years, these are long-lasting fashions! Look for that very simple and basic ingredient in things that have lasted to learn how to keep anything in fashion for ever.

Don't use Dubstep Wobbles in your music.

very true , all the so-called music with thumping, screeching, and rubbish noises which have no true musical value gets to be forgotten and thrown onto the trash heap, it's inevitable. Only Real music always survives the test of time.

I wish there was some sort of ransomware that attacked only Autune Plugins rendering them useless, so all this bullshit would end. :D

Try being inventive and creative and try to ignore current trends at all costs. That way your music will be more memorable, possibly timeless.

'..true musical value ..' and '..Real music..' are in the ear of the beholder. What are your measuring systems for such statments? You can find thumping and screeching in some of the best classical music. In fact the first musical rebels and anti-establishment musicians were people like Beethoven... do some reading.

Stop producing imitation trash, I heard somewhere that there is a new rap/hip-hop video uploaded to youtube every 3 minutes, this is saturation ultimatus and will grow into a cancer and kill itself just like EDM, as Agent Smith said.

avoid paradigmatic presets (back in the later 80's: digitalnativedance or fantasia from the d50 anyone?) and trope fx... etc.... find a way to get there in essence yourself and make it your own.
