Hey, all. As the title says, looking for positive criticism on our latest track. We'd appreciate if anyone would care to take a listen, drop a comment on what could be improved upon, and how to do so.

We come from a background of zero professional training. Pretty learning on our feet as to how to mix and master as we go along.

    Hello @Parasite-B & friendly greetings :)
I like this track,it has an electronica/electric vibe on it & has a similar sound to the more electric side of ''The Prodigy"
    ^ ^(i mean this in a good way)^^
Imho opinion the "tone" of the vocalist does not fit the track in most of the track....until 2:34...after that i like the vocal tone more heavy/death metal
Very nice touch on the outro
Thank you for sharing & have a nice day
    Edit :
    * i forgot to add that your track might benefit if you upload it on Youtube with -14 to -11nsh LUFS

Love this track~! Just out of curiosity that hardcore voice at the end, I'm hoping the singer is performing it correctly because it sounds like he's really wailing into the mic and possibly hurting his throat. If its just distortion and vocal techniques giving that effect that is really rad.

I've been digging anything you've shared in the past and thoroughly enjoyed this as well

Thank you very much for the feedback. Really do appreciate it!

@Radioactive Fallout love your comment, man! Thank you! Not really much else that I can say about that. Our style kinda tends to vary from track to track. I'm working on a new one right now which is a lot different in mood and style from this one. We'll hopefully have it out soon, rather than the 9 month period between this track and our last.

@Spyfxmk2 It's myself that does the vocals. I've been a bit iffy about the style that I've sang it in, myself. We work in a weird process. Write the music, then when I record my vocals it's on-the-spot without any kind of practice/rehearsal. It's literally reading the lyrics as I go along and come up with the melody/tone as I'm doing them. I do agree that my singing style doesn't quite fit when I'm just singing. Hopefully that'll be something that I can change when we do get back to a practice studio. But you've given me a lot to think about, and I like that. Also, thank you for the Prodigy reference. One of the first artists the ever influenced me with music. We did actually do a cover of Run With the Wolves a year roughly a year ago. But, could you possibly explain to me what you mean about uploading to YouTube with -14 to -11 nsh LUFS? That's completely over my head. As I said, we don't have that kind of experience. There's only two of us in the band. The other guy plays guitar, I do everything else. Between us our professional knowledge is zero. And also, thank you. Hope you're having a good day yourself!

@KungPaoFist I appreciate your concern about my voice, but it's really no strain on my voice at all. I actually find it easier to do that sort of thing than I do with singing. There's no distortion of any other effects on my vocals. Just a little EQ tweak to make it sound a bit warmer. That really is pretty much a dry recording of my vocals. But yeah, really glad that you enjoyed, man! And thank you!

Thank you to everyone that has had a listen.

I won't privilege you with any kind of positive criticism, but I will give you some positive praise, and negative criticism. lol

Negative criticism first: the whole mix lacks a bit of bass. you can rectify it easily with a nice low shelve around 125hz. Let's say about +3db. It will also fatten your vocals a bit, as they sound too thin.

Praise: I love this! Good vocals, good lyrics, good arrangement... really - do you have a label yet?

Hello @Parasite-B :),thank you for you thoughts & your reply,if you feel like it please post/link more of your music here
You can use after your limiter on your master bus various metering tools....some are free like the classic Voxengo one & many others :
https://www.voxengo.com/product/span/ .......you can find many ,some have integrated metering tools like Izotope Ozone & the Insight...
Fabfilter PRO-L2 that i use a lot also has an intergrated meter that you can use to check your LUFS....also check Waves,Brainworx & many others...
On Youtube when you upload a clip, you can check by right clicking "stats for nerds" & see your volume/normalized 'status"
....but since you're not familiar with this have a look here :

I hope all the above info helps you a bit ,stay motivated/inspired & write more music ,
    * (i think i've heard your music before here on the forum & on Midnights Radio Show....right ?....or i'm lucid dreaming again ? )

Edit : I forgot to add about the vocals try to experiment a bit with distortion like the old "classic" style of Underworld (Uk Electronic) & Seven Nation Army (Glitch Mob Remix) by the Great band The White Stripes (Original song)

    Great track mate!
I think the verse vocals are fine, I prefer soft/hard vocal contrast in this genre. All I think it needs is volume automation, drop the volume down so the vocals sit more forward in the mix. It's all one volume at the moment, something many metal tracks do and it harms the overall mix/balance. Automation is a key in giving tracks (even orchestral music) energy.
Also try to double them up or harmony them, you have a nice tone so be a shame not to use it ;)
