    Hey there
I've just "finished" a tune i made with my friend Mirodub.
As i'm not a pro engineer, any feedback, especially mix advice, is very welcome!
    Enjoy (if you can:rofl:)
    One love

sounds like a kick from a technotune

towards the end you are more brave with the delaythrows and feedback. i would say, be brave sooner in the song.

Its a pretty good mix, but heres my take, i think the horns are coming quite close to being too loud, especially in relation to the bass though i do tend to favor that "trouser flapping" bass heavy type of dub. There is also quite alot of things happening throughout the track, stripping back the arrangement in places will give a more authentic dub feel and allow some of the reverb and delay to breathe and fill out some of that empty space. I think it would also benefit from some judicious use of some "splashy" spring revreb on certain percussive elements as that lends great authenticity to any dub track

try making the kick more "thumby" and less "clicky", thumb for wheight, clicky for blending inn with the other elements.

not borring, but maybe abit too "static" or "strict", or "confined" ,

try out the different things @scott sudgested, he had great input.
also, wanted to mention that i heard the horns a smitch too loud in the mix.

Lots of good musical ideas but it is not very exciting to listen to. Movement of both sound field and where instruments are placed would be a bonus.

I like this, have to agree the horns are a bit ear piercing and cause a volume adjustment reaction but I like how clear everything is. Really like the dub sounds & bass:yes:

The SC and BC versions sound different and as I've discovered you lose a lot of detail, dynamics and bass in MP3's so might want to keep that in mind while processing feedback and making revision adjustments.

Folks, i'm sooo happy to have a place for this kinds of skilled and honest musical feedback!:bow::bow:. cauze my mummy always says its best:rofl: thanks sooo much for your time to listen to that careful:like:!!
    1. Yes, i adjusted levels of horns and keys and replaced the files. not too much, wonder if you guys think that fits...
    2. Regarding the term "authentic dub" and the question aubout movement in the stereo field i'd like to explain about the growth of this tune:
We originally made it in 2018 for a live dub set on the Justice Rivah sound system. It was produced by me and miro in quiet short time, then bounced it mostly dry to 8 tracks mono to fit best to the sound system and took it to the gig. then, miro made a baby and all the stuff laid around since then. as i found a bit of motivation down my butt the last week, i decided to do a "real dub mix" with this, which means: 1 Take. no further adjustions of fx and cuts. like it was in the tape days. if the take sucks: record another take. to be honest: if i did a good mix and theres just a little mistake, somtimes i'm cheating a little with our digital benefits too. but for me, "authentic dub" is indeed to honor the intuitive technical accident. i ALWAYS hear things in a mix like this i would do very different next time...
So happy to have this forum!
Nuff love to all of you!:speaker:
