"Other high end reverb developer" for some unknown reason (the secre rules (of acquisition) of hi end reverb developer's secret order), can not develop and promote xyz reverb (or any kind of 'hi end' dsp) plugins? Any valid statistics out there, about numbers od sold and 'misused' software by vendor? When not smeared by purpose, everything is black or white. 'You're' dead or alive. Zero or one. How much ill, that keeps 'you' from calling 'your' life not worthy living, or as such life at all, does not make a difference. It is just point of wiew, opinion based on.... in the 'eye' of biokinetic binary calculator. 'Quantum superposition biased' more than often, it seems.

This is not a synth/sample player for anyone who can actually play keyboards, period. The mapping and key transitions on this thing are a joke. The majority of patches clip or mute out if you even attempt to play a fast sequence of notes in real time. Very similar to other mom & pop shop developers like StudioLinked and Superstar O.. poorly constructed plugins. Even if the patches in Avenger meet someone's taste (not mine), they would fair better if loaded in a VST sampler that is better constructed as far as "playability" goes.

yeah, you do have the right to complain and i feel you, dont tell me when you put out the product did not comed to mind it will get cracked someday!? ...well, it happened like to all devs, the question is how do you get from here? what will you do? protecting and loose potential coustomers or cut the price and gain more from the market, you guys see only one way when disaster strikes, think at more strategies, its easy to say ''no, i will lock everyone down'' this will make people already bought the product not to upgrade anymore unless you add some homicidial features not found in any product for the version 2.0 ... im sorry i was missed the 50% discount on Avenger last time, i swear i wuld have bought it, now add that dongle and you will just loose more coustomers, and dont tell me you did not with Nexus winch in my oppinion is not a serious product, it aims at begginers, Avenger is more powerful and more pro oriented, like i said, try to cutoff from that price, you will gain coustomers in no time...

You can actually set the master output level in the system preferences

I'm talking about this occurring when you want to walk notes quickly on the keyboard, regardless the output level. Didn't take long to discover this when I was browsing through alot of the lead patches. Aside from not being impressed by anything I heard, half the patches weren't really playable because of how poorly they mapped them. They spent no time tailoring the key crossovers. I didn't notice any advanced user setting that would allow me to go in and fix the problems either. No big deal.. If Avenger meets other people's standards for sound and playability I can't complain on their behalf.

Oh, look. Another one who haven't looked past the EDM expansions.

But you can just use the synthesis part if you don't like the multisamples. That's extensive enough to create all types of sounds. Obviously something like Kontakt is better as a sampler for realistic sounds.

I don't see people bitching about Serum even though their sample section isn't even close to that of Avenger.

Avenger is a jack of some trades, master of none. You seem to pay thru the nose ($2000?) to get (less) stuff than is bundled with (ie) Sylenth, Omni. I think even the dev admits in their promo blurb that the (wildly overpriced) preset banks are also wildly generic. The only differences seem to be in bundled kits and slightly different filters on some presets. It sounds like a freebie softsynth. But you do get some nice pads.

Avenger is good for pads, atmosphere's and special effects, but its not in the same league as serum, sylenth, spire, and massive for bass and lead sounds. it has a similar sound to sonic academy ana2 where it just doesn't sound clean enough, it lacks punch, even when just designing a simple sawtooth bass patch. It does use a lot of cpu and it also lags when opening and closing it which is a pain for workflow (could be pc spec specific though) plus you have to have it large or its very had to read the font. Its a great synth still with the best arp on any synth ever.

No one is forced to buy all the expansion packs. If you know basic synthesis you can create perfectly capable sounds with the stock content.

Please tell me what Sylenth offers that Avenger doesn't.

This is the problem. Some of us are talking about what you can do with it, and others are whinging about what it does or doesn't spoonfeed to you. Not that the factory library is bad by any means (depending on what types of music youre into, i guess). But the fact people are talking about the expansions like they're part of the price of the synth is either completely retarded or totally disingenuous. I bought Avenger the literal week it came out. I think that was 3 years ago and I never once considered buying an XP until the 50% off sale. I sure did enjoy the benefits of all the free updates tho... :dunno:

Since someone used spectrasonics as a point of comparison, let's take that a bit further. Their bass "expansion" for Omnisphere (and yes, that's what it is) is close to $300. Their keyboards expansion is $400. Therefore Omnisphere is around $1100. See how stupid that sounds?

forgot the Moog tribute. Add another $100 to the price of omnisphere. Those greedy monsters!

Exactly. "Expansion" is just a misleading term for "sample pack". Just some root notes from other sample packs they went and compressed in their own container. Which sucks, because those who do use Avenger can't even delete the individual sounds they don't like. But misleading newcomers to music production isn't enough, so they throw a price tag on a sample pack that nearly equates to the cost of another plugin. Any newcomer to music production could auto-map samples from Samplephonics, Origin Sound, etc. into something basic like TAL-Sampler.. and be off to a better start than fiddling with Avenger.

As far as using it as a raw synthesizer.. Avenger is not for real keyboard players. But for those into one finger, slow note changing fundamentals.. have at it.

the bass and keyboard expansions as you called them are totally individual instruments that can be used inside of omni, dont need omni to use trilian or keyscape.
