The correct video title should be: 'This is my approach on a particular sidechain effect for a particular genre, but I generalize it, because ...'.

Gyro, if it weren't you, I'd rate this thread 'dislike' because of its wrong and misleading title.

Many ways to do SC compression effect.
In the past I used a dynamic EQ to do that, the brainworx bx-dynEQ V2 which has a SC input.

Well.. I think OP's title is eye-catching and sexy. With the "this is my approach" title I would have probably skipped. If it was anyone I didn't think I would become tiger snacks with, I would have given a dislike

I don't understand why the guy says comressors are not nice tools to achieve SC compression, and that his toys is better. Both reduce level drops.
His toy is just MB,to you can be more transparent.
But SC compression pumping effect is nice sometimes too.

His tool is a leveler, if I got it right. So it's pulling down the level, rather than compresssing the dynamics.
He also said it's useful in case you want to avoid especially this pumping effect.

The modern approach to marketing. Say something controversial, irritating, or just completely false, to get some attention. I see it constantly on youtube videos regarding mixing, and in product marketing (think Slate's "everything will change" or PA's "game changer" subscription models).

A gate works the other way around.
Let's say A is the sound that will be compressed and B is the trigger in the sidechain. As soon as B exceeds the compressor's threshold A will be compressed, aka lowered in level (bd lowers bass).
With a gate this works inverse. As soon as B exceeds the gate's trigger, the gate will open and EDIT: A can be heard. As long as B is below the trigger (does not play) A is muted. This way you either have both sounds or none at all.

Sorry, I mixed up the last three A, B

I'd say this depends solely on the plugin.
