I currently use MEGA but it's starting to give me a headache. The price and storage is great, but with 3.5TB of encrypted data it is seemingly slowing my account down to where it either crashes my browser and doesn't let me access my data or takes about 4-7 days (yes, DAYS!) to log in. This is obviously totally impractical and not fit for purpose.

I'm wondering, is there any other recommended way to back up my stuff? Some of the data are things from the sister site. Previously tried using Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive but they all seemed to block me from downloading most stuff uploaded from the sister site as I assume they think it's illegal or contains a virus?! Would zipping these before upload prevent this? Or encrypting in some way, such as password protected zip files or using something like boxcrptor?!

Just trying to work out a sensible, reasonable and fit for purpose off-site storage solution!

 

Zipping with password protection works on google drive.
And I recommend you zipping program folders full of small files instead of uploading them individually.

I use BackBlaze ($60 USD/Year) It has unlimited storage with the exception that it is purely for backup. You can download individual files from the site, but they must still exist on a hard drive that is connected to your PC. Not sure if this is a viable solution for you, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to chime in

 

weirdly i found that microsuck family onedrive is great value and works fast and well....... 6 TB for 120 bux a year.....
