I've ran across this interesting yesterday's article at ScanProAudio:
    https://www.scanproaudio.info/2019/07/30/ryzen-memory-testing-for-audio-does-it-make-an-impact/

just out of curiosity, I ran DAWbench DSP R5 1566 on my hackintosh - 4-year old rig from summer 2015:
    6-core 12-thread i7-5820K OC'ed @4.3GHz
    32GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM

and could load 123 instances of plugin in Reaper before I started hearing crackling at buffer setting 128 which is exactly SAME result as their PC spec:
    12-core 24-thread Ryzen 3900X default boosting up to @4.6GHz
    DDR4 3200MHz RAM

...and I almost thought my rig is getting outdated phew
    :chilling:

I guess the Windows vs MacOS and Intel vs AMD war is over

EDIT: I will do same test on my Windows 10 2019 LTSC on the same hardware

What CPU are they using in that article? What is stock CPU? Where does it say their PC spec?

    windows 10 1903
does 159 plug-ins before it starts to sputter
yes it's overclocked but rock solid

    :bleh::bleh::bleh::bleh:

    Haha.. :deep_facepalm:

Yes, your old overclocked CPUs are equally as fast or even faster than the 3900X. Also, the earth is flat.

I don't trust Scan Pro Audio that much... they are biased too much. and they like to sell their Intel PCs btw. DAWbench website is a bit better in that regard. But everybody in the DAW world is Intel biased. Shame. Biased in this sense means they will do everything within thei power to make Intel CPUs look good. Mind me, I do like them, just as I like AMD CPUs, but sometimes times change.

I've heard many times that the plugins are more efficient under Windows than Mac OS.The last time I've read that is from JunkieXL.

And the number of threads doesn't matter for audio production,it's the number of cores and their frequency that are important.

Not sure what you compare. But the linked article is about the RAM speed AMD suggests for Ryzen 2 series and if it is worth to buy this expensive RAM. -3733MHz

Read this if you want a comparison between Ryzen 2 and Intel.

tell me something it shouldn't be able to handle Omni? yes sometimes but track, freeze or bounce there are ways around everything. I build systems for top producer friends when I'm spending their money its intel always but I ain't got that kinda dosh( i buy too many guitars i guess) at the moment so i do what i can with what I got and make it as efficient as possible, what i don't get is why r u racking on my machine in the end its just a tool i could do what i do on an 8 track if i had to but its the 21st century so its a daw . plus i like not having to have an armada of outboard gear in my living room.
