Hmmm, not to sound snarky, but I never ever had a problem hitting strings that I wished not to play and I'd venture to say that the use of tape was a one-off and odd enough to merit a couple of words in the article article that you cited.

I wish to add that it is not for me just a good metal sound, but rather any great guitar tone. The disclaimer in my post is that I have used every guitar software but never a Kemper. Amps and heads or combos are living and breathing and I have found software solutions as tools lacking in my experience.

With 700 bucks or with 70.000. The first thing I'll do is to improve your recording/mixing room.
Buy a measurement mic (Behringer ecm 8000 is good enough, around $60). Then download REW from https://www.roomeqwizard.com (free software) and then after measure your actual room, you can make improvements. If you need more help, PM.

Maybe I agree with your statement about amp simulators ... Even though there are so many seductive amp simulators on the market... :drummer:

I could not find Laney Ironheart 60 and EVH 5150III 15W Mini Lunchbox Head in my country .... Price of PRS MT15 in my country reached $714

My room is sometimes noisy because there are no sound absorbers ... So since the beginning I didn't think of buying a mic ...

Can you recommend what type of Ibanez RG? Are all types of RG good? 7 strings or just back to 6 strings? Or am I just upgrading my pickup?

Thank you for the advice from your experience ... I put in the list of headphones what I will buy ...

I also think so, but my budget is very limited only to buy original/real amps....
That doesn't include whether I have to upgrade my pc or not ... I still consider it ... :shalom:

Good input ... I actually want to treat my room acoustically, but seeing the condition of my house, it means I also have to renovate it so that the room can be completely closed ... Maybe in the future I will save money to renovate the house so that my room completely covered ...

I will PM you in the future when I will treat my room acoustically, thank you very much ... :like:

I play 8 strings as well as 6 strings, but I don't know about your genre and your style of playing. It also depends on the sound you want to get from the guitar. The more you go lower you lose the punch, and you need more scale and also thicker string. Having a real good amp for low tuned guitar is necessary. One good thing about my 8 string (possible on 7 as well) is that I have tuned its 7 string dropped. So I have both a standard (6) and also dropped (7) tunning accessible. So I don't need to change guitars for different songs.

It took a while until I could get used to my 8 string guitar. At first, I couldn't even play simple chords, there were many strings. 7 string should be easier for moving.

Regarding Ibanez, they are great. I gave them to professionals to regulate the action, so I can bring the strings down for shredding.

The problem is not hitting the strings. When you play anything, the other strings do vibrate together with the ones you hit. You mute them with either your left hand (if you have spare fingers) or tape off the ones you're not using. Both methods are valid.

It turns out that 7/8 string isn't as easy as I imagined...
What brand string do you use? What size? What is the scale? How about the tension?
    good advice about tuning.... :like:

Looks like I see the price for the 7 string Ibanez RG exceeds my budget ... If I return to my Cort KX5, is it possible for me to upgrade my pick up? I'm still using Seymour Duncan Dimebucker SH-13 pick-up...
What about EMG 81? Is it better than my SD SH-13 for solid sound distortion?

I usually play music in my own songs ... The genre is a mixture of pop, rock and a little bit of metal ...
If you are free, you can listen to it here:
What do you think? Does the guitar need more gain? Or is that enough?

By the way...Do you use midi controller? What brand?
Do you also use headphones? what is your recommendation? I will use headphones for recording, mixing, etc.
    Thanks anyway...

The MX50's in my world are not worth the extra money. i listened to both side by side intensively at my local shop for almost a hour and i just couldn't find the sparkle that would make them worth more then the 40's
I had the money to afford the 50's but it just didn't make sense.

A lot of reviews seem to think the same as well. save the money get the 40;s

Mixing only with headphones is not a good idea...Eventually for checking your mixes or some details but not for mixing.

I use the Beyerdynamics DT-990 pro 250 ohms ,which is an opened headphones. So rignt and far better than a closed headphones for checking mixes or listening music but not the best for recording.

If you want to do everything (recording, mixing) with only one headphones maybe look an opened/closed model, like the Beyerdynamics DT-880.

I was able to buy a great sounding VOX AC4TV for 100 bucks, a fine little single ended tube amp that won't blow out the walls and records really well. Currently my other amp is a Vox AC15C1 that was 300. With an eye open for a deal a deal can be had.

If one can get the guitar cabinet out if the room that your sound card is, it is great to have open back headphones. Closed are needed only for vocals and if one is drumming to enable you to hear the mix.

Your pickup is already good I think. Having a real amp is much much more important than the pickup. Good guitars are more about the neck and playability. However, I don't call your tracks metal. So for the genre, the gain is enough.

Your music sound very good already! As I said source sound is more important, especially for guitars and vocals. I recommend not auto tunning your vocals this heavy, they sound like a computer.

I use Senhiser280 Pro (new), and I like it. I mix my songs myself.

Having a midi controller is mandatory! That should be one of your priorities. However, you can get a midi controller for as cheap as 100$ and they are enough!

Wow, good advice ... That's why I believe in people's experiences rather than theory ... Even though both are good ... Thanks bro...

Okay, I'll put it in my list ... thank you for your advice ...

Well, I will put it in the list of items that I will buy in the future ... It looks like the amps are also necessary...
    Thank you bro ...

    Good point, thank you... :like:

I am still new to the amp world ... When I buy amps, I also have to buy a mic like the SM57 for recording purposes?
Thank you for your opinion of my music ... Anyway for vocals, I use a simulation program called Vocaloid ... A virtual singers ... Like this :
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocaloid
    http://www.vocaloid.com/en/
But, thank you for your advice ...

That's right ... I'm very interested in HD 280 ... But I still haven't decided to prioritize what I should buy first ... Between PCs, Headphones, Guitars, and Midi Controllers ... Because my budget is limited to around $ 700
    :knock:

By the way, when mixing you use speakers or headphones more often?

If I buy a midi controller is an mandatory, what brand with around $100? And how many keys? 25 keys or 49 keys?
What are you midi controller currently using?

Wow, thank you so much for listening to my music and songs ... I appreciate ....

    That's right, sir :shalom:

Btw, I just replied to a message from you on my profile ... thank you ...

You should prioritize and set your goals. Your first priotiry should be the source sound. That means:
    1. Amp: if you want to have professional sounding guitars. You don't need a cabinet and SM57! Many these days use the direct output of the amp, and use IR for cab simulation. This is the safest way to record as a home producer. (You can later run your recorded sounds into a real cab if you want).

    2. Finding a human vocalist: I don't know about the southeast culture, but humanism is very important for serious listeners. In short, you can collaborate with people.

    3. Good guitar: if you want to shred or play advanced solos. Notice I didn't say guitar for its pickups. A good guitar is all about the neck. You can change pickups always.

    4. MIDI Controller: M-Audio is good in the lower price range. You can find a 2nd handed!

    5. Headphone: to dial in the base of your mix. I don't have a speaker because I am always moving. You can get fairly good results with a good headphone. If you are a musician, you shouldn't spend your money on Mix gear. Finding a mix engineer gives you both their knowledge, and also their gear. Again, you can collaborate with people.

This is true IF your amp has a direct output. While most bass amps do, most guitar amps don't.

Also, good point on collaboration. Focus on doing the stuff you do best and team up with someone who does the other stuff best.

    1. Boss Katana 50 has a direct output? On the back of the amp is only Phones/Rec out ... Is that right? Maybe I will try to find the nearest dealer and try it first ... Because this product here is not too much interested ... So it's rather difficult to find ...

    2. Maybe I will try to find a singer for collaboration, even though it looks like it will take time ... If I may tell, a few times my project was stuck because of a vocalist who was not serious ... So I tried to find other ways to keep my music can run ... Finally I found the Vocaloid community ... By the way, your advice is very good, are there any female singers in this forum who want collaboration with me? :drummer:

    3. Actually the guitar that I use now is comfortable in playability .... the neck is also safe ... In the future if I really have to buy a guitar again, Is this item valuable?
    https://www.amazon.com/Jackson-JS22-7-Dinky-Satin-Black/dp/B00BSL5Z1E
Based on your experience, what size of guitar strings do you suggest? I have a plan to drop tuning with a rather large string ...

    4. Noted

    5. Well, I understand ... Thank you for the very detailed explanation ... I limit the search list of items that I will buy until the beginning of September 2019 and until I am absolutely sure ... Maybe I will work harder so I can add to what not yet reached...

    Thank you, Master...

Can you mention what guitar amps have direct output besides Boss Katana 50?

Ok, I will find it...thanks... :winker:

    1. Apparently Katana 50 doesn't have but Katana 100 or Artist do.

None of my amps (Mesa Boogie, Dean Markley, Peavey, Marshall, Vox or Kustom) ever had a direct out, so yes, something like an SM57 was always needed. If you can swing it, a Neumann U67 is also nice.:mates:
