It's not about people being offended about that. It's that there's problem that restrain people from doing so. It's not economically viable.

Like several have said, you can download the maximum quality available on YT with several programs, being JDownloader the best AFAIK.

But considering you have to download it offline if you don't wanna reencode an already (lossy) encoded audio... I don't see much of a use for that plugin.

thats a shitty converters...you can have yt addons in firefox...like i said..the addons change...you must test and try out...i wouldnt wonder if there is a new one right now which give you a button to dl mp3 directly...

but direct dl into youre DAW___________go where the coders are...there a lot of audio ppl belong them...i think someone in this world could even have such script

but same quality , isnt it ?

so how could it be that labels had great times while 80ies early 90ies where sampling was introduced long time ago...

    sampling is not filesharing...
its just so that today ppl use the given opportunity to make money by clearing samples...
back then some hits got made ppl realized the samples were not cleared and dang new opportunity arised

Let me play devil's advocate here. The OP simply proposed "a Youtube browser, in plugin-format. The plugin is an instrument so to speak, and videos can be converted in real time, so you are essentially streaming audio into your DAW." Suddenly, this thread became a copyright do's and don't thread. And the OP is being demonized.
What the OP has proposed is NOT any different that 100's of apps/add-ons which are available, allowing you to capture/download/convert live streaming. I am not a lawyer but copytright violation comes at the user's end. The App or VST in this case are not different from a torrent client, a VHS recorder, etc. You need to download and use that copyright material in order for the copyright laws to apply.
Everyone jumping on the OP as if the OP is the devil ...and we are all angels. No need to be insulting the OP or generalizing about hip hop producers. They are not the only ones sampling without permission. They are not the only ones violating copyright laws. He was more honest than many of you. He came out clean, no 'ifs" no 'buts" about how he feels about copyrights. I have to respect that.

Seems like you got me wrong. Maybe I should have written a longer reply. Actually didn't want to elaborate same things from my first reply again.
Let me clarify. I was not talking about sampling. Not about making music using samples. All I was trying to say was creating such YT sampling plugin is not a viable business case. "Why so" you're asking?

    legal troubles:
    • it's against YT's terms of service
    • depending on legislation copyright holder might be able to sue you
    market:
    • how many users out of the potential target group would actual pay for such a plugin?
(If they don't want to spend money on their samples why do so for sampling tools?)
    • even very first potential customer (OP) already asked to get this for free

    indeed. Never said so
While I principally agree with you you're overlooking one little detail:
That's what I've tried to answer. And that's what many replies here refer to.

My Presonus 1818vsl has an option to send a copy of the main output to the SPDIF IN (yes IN). I select SPDIF in from my DAW and I can sample anything being played back from my PC (youtube, spotify, Tidal etc).

Most interfaces with SPDIF IO will allow you send the main to the SPDIF Out, from there you connect a cable back into the IN and you have a loopback.

Higher channel count Focusrite interfaces have loopbacks built in too.

It shouldn't matter to the VST developer nor stop any future development because you could be downloading things that aren't protected by copyright. Seriously, none of the copyright arguments here hold any water as to the reason why no such vst plugin exists. The law certainly does not prohibit the existence nor penalizes the developer of the app or VST. If that was the case the copyright holder would even go after DAW's and hardware that are being used to produce songs using samples without permission.

I agree, and even if it's copyrighted we're in ASex here so for me it doesn't make a difference.
But I think a plugin wouldn't be the fastest way to do it. So, if you don't want to download the clip first...
We're talking about a quick way to sample YT audios "real-time", and maximum quality is not a concern.
In that case you must have your browser on while browsing YT, so I'd just use the "WASAPI driver recording what-you-hear" trick someone mentioned before.

Profit... profit... always this damn profit!
Thanks God, it remains on earth some charitable people who act without "profit" in mind.
Look at this forum or, even better, at our wonderful "sister site": they're not run for profit but for the glory.
    Definitely.

Loopback or Piezo are the fastest ways to capture small sections from videos.

Because it's copyright infringement and illegal... the only reason you may get away with it is because you haven't posted publicly, but as soon as you do... you're a marked man (or woman)!!!

Why don't you just rent Arcade from Output. It's nothing BUT sounds! An unlimited and growing library!! All the major hip hop producers are locked into it too! It's just $10-a-month when I started using it... it would be the best $10 YOU spend a month!!

You deserved the nasty I gave you. You calling members who produce hip hop ignorants. As @The Pirate said, hip hop producers are not the only one using samples without permission. Some producers and artists steal whole songs. I dont know u and am fairly new here but your comment about hip hop guys being ignorant is concenstious stupidity at its best.

You could not. YouTube allows you to choose either standard license (copyright) or CC-BY, which is a variant of Creative Commons that requires you to mention the original author. Wonder if OP would include a note about the sample origin everywhere he posts his stuff if he already stated he doesn't give a crap about legal issues.

See, we don't ban selling paper, but we ban photocopying books. We don't ban pens, but we do ban fake signatures on documents. See the difference?

Yes, they're not the only ones. Though I had considerably more low-quality mp3 background tracks downloaded from shady websites to deal with from them than any other clients combined. Hip-hop guys are already generally considered harder to deal with than other clients (which is why you see recording and mixing engineers that specialize in hip-hop while the other guys who work in other genres don't touch these jobs), and people like OP with the "I don't care, someone make a tool for me to steal more easily" attitude don't help here. Not to be too biased, there's honest and hard-working people in hip-hop too and those I fully respect. Just saying that I'm yet to hear a country vocalist say "I don't give a crap about copyright. If you're offended about that, then I am sorry"
