Hi i looking for the best card for my Tascam Dr-40x recorder. I found
    SANDISK microSDXC Extreme 128GB
    160 MB/S Read
    90 MB/S Write

Tascam has SD input. I should buy SD card or this is no difference SD or Micro SD with adapter?
SANDISK is a good choice or You have something better?

    Cheers :)

As audio does not require that high read/write speeds, you can do with whatever SD or microSD in adapter, basically.

I prefer to use Sandisk and Lexar cards, as I also shoot higher res video (which demands higher read/write speeds).

On Tascam site They wrote supported cards and on the list for SANDISK 128GB is only this model:
    SanDisk Extreme SDXC™ UHS-I card 128GB (U3, Class10) Model Name: SDSDXVF-128G-JNJIP*1

    Other cards should normally work?

If you're talking about this page https://www.tascam.eu/en/dr-40x_cards.html, it's only tested not exclusively supported, and it doesn't even say something about the performance.
So, as long as the card fits physically, it should work. :winker:

And btw, as long as you don't make recordings with a very low signal level, there's no benefit in using 24bit, since the resolution (from -96dB - 0dB) is the same.

Just wanted to add, I've got the DR-40 and have never had any problems with SD/microSD card compatibility. Normally I use SANDISK cards in it. I haven't tested anything beyond 32GB however.
This little recorder makes fantastic sounding recordings. My primary use is songwriting, but I also use it to record band practices and give everyone a copy right after practice. Great sound with quiet acoustic recordings as well as dynamic loud recordings like a full band.

I use exactly THOSE cards for my drone. It takes videos @4K wich needs a hell of a transferrate. Not any problems with those.
I've had some isolated problems with Lexar cards but as I'm very supersticiuos with hardware, Sandisk is all I use now. No more experiments.

On the other hand, as @Baxter said, audio is far less demanding, so that every cheap SDXC may do the job.

Generally all SDXC cards that I used (Sandisk included) had one issue: They don't deal well with small files especially when the room on the card is filled more than half or get too warm. Then they tend to write slower and slower.
So I would recommend to empty the whole SDXC before starting a new session and leave the recorder off just before you start recording.
