Over the years (too many to mention) of collecting and hoarding multisampled libraries....I have come to a conclusions.

Soundfonts (especially SFZ) are every bit as good as the most meticulously multisampled libraries.

OKOKOK, maybe that's a bit of hyperbole...and feel free to flame me. But after extensive and obsessive comparisons (maybe I should have documented...but I'm lazy)...I think that soundfonts are completely invaluable tools. Obviously, most aren't going to grab them to score films with hundreds-of-thousands of budget dollars at their disposal....but, in reality, COULDN'T they?

IDK, I just really appreciate these subtle epiphanies I have. :D

Thanks for listening to me think out loud. Anybody agree??

Everything has a time and a place.

For an Adele type piano ballad, soundfonts aren't detailed enough but in between layers of EDM synths a piano soundfont would do the job.

It is an old format but in the end it's just PCM samples. If you have a Soundfont that has a particular character you like and that works well in context of a song theres no reason why you shouldn't use it.
