This has happened before, but whereas reinstalling Lame.enc fixed the problem previously, it has failed to work this time.

FLStudio (12) reports it cannot find LAME when I choose to output in MP3. That's no biggie, I thought, I will just convert using XRecode. But XRecode opens and immediately closes. Fffffuuuuuuu..........

I have a pile of things I need to convert to MP3.......and I want to use XRecode.

Any suggestions, please? How do I get my (Win7x64) to properly register and report to software that LAME is installed?

It isn't missing, that's the point. It's in the directory FL looks for it......and other places too.

    I'll try, thanks.

    Thanks. I'll try that first.

    Cheers for responses.

OK, well Pirate's advice fixed FL - I can export as MP3. Thank you very much, have a parrot on me. :D

BUT......XRecode again just opens and immediately closes (having uninstalled, reinstalled, patched).

    Any ideas how to fix?

Every program comes with it's own LAME encoder and since you fixed only FL...

Good question. If it still has a lame.dll, just replace with the one that works in FL?
If it hasn't one, copy the dll to Xrecode's root directory or plugin folder?

It didn't work - same thing again - opens momentarily then closes.

Pffft - uninstalled, went through registry, downloaded latest 'portable' version and......it works. Though I don't like the revised format for the options. Never mind, it works!!!

Thanks all for answers - got there in the end!

But........why would FL "lose" touch with a .dll that hasn't changed, and nothing about FL has changed - hadn't used it in quite a while.........odd.

@G String Im glad you were able to solve it. BTW, that fried parrot tasted good AF.

Just in case, I have W7 Lite and am able to run Xrecode without any issues. Fl 12 and 20 do not interfere with it and vise-versa. I have version 2.6.2 which dates back to 2011. It is 100% FREE. If you are running the same version of Xrecode you know that if it is not working for you it is system related as proven by your ability to run it in portable mode. you also said you uninstalled it. Did you remove the 40+ registry entries?

I don’t know if it is the case here,
But Microsoft has all kinds of Dll links in the: “registery”.

And I don’t know what xrecode is. But, I presume you got of lucky uninstalling reversed the ‘damage’.

yeah. Portable is fine, and working. I'll just have to get used to new revised format.

    Cheers all!

What system? Also can you remove it totally and seeing if older 2.6.2 version works?
