Recently, many video creation software has become free. Davinci Resolve, Hitfilm Express, VSDC, Shotcut, Lightwork and etc. You can use almost 90% of the features of their product. The paid version provides extra, but it is not necessary. You can still create & edit the video with free version.

However, it is rare in the music software industry. As far as I know, the free software which you can produce music are LMMS and Cakewalk. Other free software are not powerful to create music honestly. It is not only DAW, but also plug-ins as well.

Why is that? I don't think musicians have more money than movie producers.

 

there is enough audio freeware out there...some only using freeware and 60 bucks super DAW reaper

i think you compere wrong things...a simple video editor has nothing to do with pro visiual arts and cinema,advertising,tv....
ADOBE is not cheap at all...and even a B or C movie cost 1 million easy

I feel the difference between the amount of work you have to put in when you want to do decent music in a DAW and the amount of work and knowledge and gear you need to make a decent movie is staggering. Besides, a track is a couple of minutes, a movie most likely more than 90+ minutes. I would love to get into filmmaking but find it very daunting to even think about it.

 

you would already have content if you where really into it..you would have a drone(a flying one) and a lot of content i think...
.all normal ppl begin small...independent movies....

beside that audio is more difficult to record then motion , with nowadays gear for everyone...and with this gear you have hq content...but of course no 16mm

a lot of filmakers are into audio too...and using own music.....and sounds

maybe because there's no such thing like Video Theory.. in Music, people have to travel to some holy place like Tibet for that.. they have to live there for long years and also have to went on deadly trials and exams to master the art / kung-fu of Music Theory.. and that's just one of the foundation developer have to take to build the Music Creation software.. tough.

 

Who needs video software when we have iPhone and Samsung cell phones turning kids, that don't even know how to wipe their arses, into online celebrities and millionaires.

 

Audio production is more demanding on computers as well because of real-time processing.

 

Personally, I think it's because dealing with a load of musicians / producers on tech support is like 99% of the cost. A lot of that is down to pay-offs (spa days) to suicidal support staff, driven mad answering answering endless questions about "Omnisphere 2 is not authorizing", "Keyscape: STEAM folder does not have write permission" & "My boobs are getting a few pops and clicks every now and then with studio monitors..."

Imagine having to deal with a string of GBDFACE every time MMJ wanted to communicate from his nuclear bunker with a complaint about compression /
