That's why I left a comment at her profile page. How about if you join in, maybe she reads it, before it's too late?

The level of disrespect shown to me is something I am unfamiliar with. Being associated with other skilled musicians most of my life has not prepared me for the comments I have had levelled at me. Radioactive Fallout made remarks that were so uncalled about my arrogance that he edited them to make me look as though I had reacted needlessly. So no, I'm afraid I can't tell who is making of mockery of me or who think I lie when I mention how many years I have trained. I just saw somebody on MMJ2017 page tell me it is not painful on the hands to learn piano.

I will pass his advice onto my physiotherapist.
Thank you for your genuinely kind word No Avenger but I will not stay.

did you hear his piano playing...if you would , you would just laugh bout...
i cant play piano but from time to time i try to do proper chords grip...and it hurts..lol..not to mention what happens if you practice for hours...

the one movie with the drummer on elite jazz school and his crazy teacher...with bleeding hands he did fastest drum play ever...was stunning..

I never crow over any of my works. I share and ask for any kind of comment and appreciate all views.

Keep Practicing your keyboard! Nothing is more important than your instrument playing skills.
You never said what genre you are interested to work on. What do you mean by modern music? Many things can be called modern music! Progressive Metal, contemporary classical music, post-tonal music, modern Jazz music, or just electronic dance music.

@Beth Hart, I'll just say.. wasn't online last few days, but I was thinking about this topic and realized it is more complex that it seems at first glance ..also re-read what you wrote and listened again to examples you gave. I was trying to picture the "vibe" you were after and thought I was getting close to give you some real examples how would I approach this

And then I see this mess. Also wasn't aware, you were active in that other thread (a mistake, but you couldn't know..) All I can say is that most of us who remained certainly had a hard time at some point. We are all fragile, some more some less..

..and that's why the decision is all yours. But still asking you to reconsider. it would be sad if you left

BTW, "Frédéric François Chopin was a Polish composer AND virtuoso pianist of the Romantic era.."

Matt, you are very kind. You have taken the time to consider my needs and your use of the word "vibe" is what I needed to hear. I am simply seeking ways of unlearning and simplifying while utilising the tools I have at hand. I have a keyboard and Logic and headphones. It's a big learning curve to go from reading manuscript to a bunch of blank rows on the screen.
BTW, Chopin is my favourite composer, but I will never play Etude Opus 10 the way it should be played. So I will start to enjoy music, lose the frustration and incorporate what I know into a new form of expression.

Heya Beth, good to see you haven't fled AS shores just yet - not all of us here are ogres...

Maybe this might help get your juices going:
    1. Take a tiny little phrase (1/2 bar /1 bar / 2bar max.) and record it in logic.
    2. Duplicate the part, say 15 or 31 times. (there'll be an easy option to do this but i don't know logic so i can't tell you how, but for sure it'll be a no-brainer to find)
    3. Set logic on loop mode around this freshly-created 8/16/32 bar block. Output this channel to a sound of your choice (piano?)
    4. Create a blank track underneath this one, hit play and then spend some time improvising & exploring harmonic relations between the riff and whatever resonates inside you as you familiarise yourself with the emergent vibe.
    5. Once you've got something that sounds pleasing or interesting to you, record that in too and map it to the same (or indeed another) sound.
    6. Keep on adding new lines/melodies/tracks until (a) you're out of ideas, (b) your computer crashes or (c) the taste police /family/ friends bash the door down...
    7. Often it's neat to mute the original phrase channel afterward and just listen to what remains
    (though not always!)

The relationship between repetition and additional/evolving harmonic novelty is a songwriting fundamental that makes it's way into virtually every musical style/culture throughout history (even jazz when no-ones looking...) - Apologies if this sounds patronising or too obvious!

:D This did make me grin a little bit. I guess all the saintly, sober musicians I know IRL are just accidentally jerks as a hobby, or smthn! I wouldn't get too bent out of shape about opinions on the interwebs, I think most of us can empathise with your experience. Personally, I find that exercising my fingers keeps them from cramping, but I do feel my arms getting tired after a while. That's usually a cue to have some thinking time; plus there's always something to learn. (Weirdly, I just had to record one of Chopin's more famous (notorious) nocturnes and it wasn't easy at the stupid speed I did it at! Thankyou DAWs)

Im so excited! I've not only got a piano recorded into Logic but I have worked out how to share it!!!! It's just a test and badly played (I was crossed legged on the bed) but it worked!

Not every note in a performance need be what one might consider "perfectly" played to translate a story to the listener. It can be amazing.

Although you're a true musican and I'm not, I'd say it's even worse. If you'd play or even sing each every note technically perfect, you'd sound like a machine, without any emotional expression. This may be appropriate for some genres like EDM, but not for most.
