    Hello all,

I am looking for a double bass library. I have some patches as part of an orchestral library but although the bowed articulations are welcome, I need to find a double bass for jazz/contemporary music (so finger played articulations).

I haven't come across anything yet. I'll keep looking but if you know something that would suit (Kontakt or not), please let me know.

    Thank you

EDIT: ah, it's me. I guess it's called an upright bass when not used bowed...found a couple of libraries I'll take a look at but would still value recommendations.

I believe Swam Physical Modelling engine is the best for solo instruments (double bass included).

Yes, it's very good, especially for physical modelling. But it only has bowed articulations.

But thank you for for reminding me of SWQM instruments. I had completely forgotten them.

For me the best Upright bass is the John Patitucci patch in Trilian (Spectrasonics)

I'll take another look. I don't think it does jazz style slides but I'll revisit. Thank you.

Yes, that's really good. I was just looking at it. Does nice slides and unlike Trillian bases, you can choose the slide interval and the result does feel stretched out synthetically. Thanks a lt.

Thank you both. As I said, I don't own a copy of Trillian, but I will take anther look. I have not liked the slides in the Tirlian upright bass examples I listened to, but the other sounds are wonderful.

    hi phloopy,

I came across Fluffy Audio's Simple Jazz Bass Yesterday. There's only one tut on YouTube but I'll be watching that to get a feel for how it's used.

Orange Tree have some great libs. I never saw Core Bass so I am going to check it out.

    Thanks a lot.
