I have a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime. It works fine, if slow as all **** sometimes. However, today i had to restart it to try and get it back up to speed (this sometimes works), and the keyboard has stopped functioning so I cannot get into it. I have restarted, I have fully charged it and restarted it again and still nothing. When i click on the bar to put in my password, nothing comes up. I click emergency call and then the error message pops up saying the keyboard has stopped working. I have no idea how this phone actually works or how to diagnose and fix the problem at this point.

May be a problem with the screen or the samsung keyboard app - clear cache and the data of the app in this case.

The problem is your phone is password locked. The easiest way to enter it is to use an USB OTG (On The Go) cable:

plug it in and attach a normal keyboard (or mouse) to it. This way you could enter your password. There are more sophisticated methods.. but if you're not tech savvy I'd just take it to your mobile provider. They'll probably try to sell you a new one ;)

If you have everything backed up have you tried a hard-reset? Sometimes the sofware gets boogered up and a clean wipe via hard reset fixes a lot of stuff.

1 try to go to input settings, uncheck all keyboards, check them again,

2 go into Settings > Application manager , Swipe left until you land on the “All” tab and look for Samsung Keyboard , Tap on clear data and push OK

    3 Go here

4 Get an iPhone, less hassle and it would save you time on fixing android problems specially on old smartphones

    hope it helps:wink:

As @KungPaoFist told you, reset it. Using the USB OTG will allow you to get into it but it is not going to fix the issue. Reset the mofa.

    1. Back up data on the internal memory.
    2. Turn off the device.
    3. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
    4. When the Samsung GALAXY Core Prime logo screen displays, release only the Power key
    5. When the Android logo displays, release the Volume Up and the Home key ('Installing system update' will show for about 30 - 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
    6. Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight 'wipe data / factory reset.'
    7. Press Power button to select.
    8. Press the Volume down key until 'Yes -- delete all user data' is highlighted.
    9. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
    10. When the master reset is complete, 'Reboot system now' is highlighted.
    11. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Hm instead of a reset, you also can try using another keyboard app. Since I had problems, I started using "swiftkey".
It's the best keyboard app in my opinion. You also can get a patched version in the net for "tryin before buying".

A system update later my keyboard started working again and everything was fine but I kept using swiftkey.

Btw. don't let anyone tell you to get an iphone ;)
