    ...turned against the Goddess Terpsichore

That might have been a hasty decision on my part. I obviously boobed.
If it's not too late to repent, I wouldn't mind having my nose rubbed in it.

Here is a song I made in 1998.
    http://jamen.do/t/187664
    I used a Pentium I, windows 98
A midi sequencer ( energy xt beta version?)
The sound card was soundblaster 16 ,
( Soundblaster sound fonts of the time)
In 2008 I just level out volume when I made the compilation album of songs I made from 1997 to 2002.
At this time period I had no music theory knowledge . Just knew drums guitars bass keys
Was just starting out sound , mixing ,sound design sequencingg and producing but had composed a lot before that .
I hadn't yet learned production and engineering ( which I would learn along with mastering from 2002 until 2008) then 2008 until 2010 I ran a public studio and also moonlighting for live stage sound.
Then 2010 onward started learning music theory .
My point is for longest time i thought reading sheet music and learning music theory was pointless in modern age. But after a while especially getting more into music history and musicology I realized being ignorant of music theory was keeping me in a box. Sure I could continue writing infinite music always had ideas , but I didn't have a way to grow past what my ears were naturally. I didn't have a way to know every possibility for harmony it melodies I came up with .
Even when I first started out learning music theory i thought it was telling me that there were things I couldn't or not allowed to do for a while. But after spending everyday for years learning more and more about it I finally started to see a larger framework emerge. I started to hear 7 or 9 note chords in my mind. I started to picture 50 versions of a Melody .I started to relize that when I pick a subdominant function that contained 25 unique chords each could fit that role but had different flavor. I started to really understand that music was timeless and genre is bogus .
There is a deeper level to music ( as with everything in life)
It takes time patience effort and experience to unlock the secrets in the language portion of music .but for me it's worth working do hard so long to get to the deepest level where everything is visible and understood. To understand what is happening anytime.
    We all have different paths.
The path I am on with this site is trying make it even a tiny bit easier for those seeking knowledge.
Those who have individual struggles like who cannot afford high class music school but a burning desire to learn.
Let's work toward a common goal.
    That specific goal is,
    Making music a valuble thing.
Make music which is directly connected to what is inside of you.

Good grief! I don't know what's worse, the classical dissonance above or the horrendously repetitious jazz standard All Of Me. I hate jazz. Wankers the lot of them. BORING!!!

I am glad you brought this up really good question .

Music theory is not concepts to be injected into music.
Music theory is a description of how ALL music works
( Which ever has been written , and which ever CAN be written.)
This is because music theory is about music itself .

There are a few separate music theory languages which work differently from each other .

    They are

    1.Tonal music
    2.Modal music.
    3.Poly tonal music
    4.Atonal music .

These 4 separate languages cover ALL the music which ever has be written , and ALL the music which will be and can be ever written.

If you belive this to be true , I suggest you study music history and musicology as you are a wrong as anyone can be about being incorrect about anything .
Most people where taught music theory during childhood throughout history.
All musicians knew music theory with exception of a few . Music theory is no more complex than learning any other language .
Most children for instance grew up taking piano lessons or horn lessons and learned music theory .

Popular music WAS classical music and jazz until recently.
The recent genres of rock and roll onward was
    A new concept.
The selling of an idea that a lottery could take place . Instead learning to become a Dr through years of training and knowledge ( musician)
The idea is you just make a bunch of sounds noises
And if you good looking enough and have charm good voice you can be selected by the public lottery to become famous , rich and have sex with strangers do drugs.
This was the removal of music from music.
A recent societal invention just a lottery type system based on culture ( music has no connection to this and is removed from it(
But if you haven't noticed yet
This lottery system is dead now.
Music has become worthless ( not worth paying for by anyone)
    Not cared about by anyone
( The fame lottery experiment has died)
Music is different than making noises and wearing cover-up lifting weights band taking headshots
    Look at my glutes mentality
Music is a system 4 languages.
People are not willing to listen to amateur garbage anymore.
Everyday hundreds of millions of nobodies publish albums made from laptops in which they have boom click boom click linked to a piano roll as they yelp and overtop moan from their cell phone microphones.
Hundreds of millions albums like this come out everyday and nobodies gives 2 shits or 1 shit or 1/10th of.a shit because it is trash. Garbage. A waste of time and breath and thumb twiddling

I'd like to show me one example of any song which is not
    1.tonal music language
    2.modal music language.
    3.polytonal language
    4.atonal music language

    Justv1 example is enough.

Okay, I mean no harm against you I just like discussing the topic I don't think about you in any negative way my friend.
In fact I would love to teach you ( for free) anything that might be able to help you do more ( that you would like to do ) musically.

To show you where I am coming from
Here is a link to a " song" I wrote
    And recorded in 2001
Which I created all the sounds themselves right from scratch when I was developing my
Sound design skills.( Analog synths fm synths modular)
    http://jamen.do/t/187628
(In 2008 I made compilation album of my songs from 1997 till 2002)
I have spent years working in all the modern genres and doing all types musical jobs

We have a unique opportunity right now in history.
Anyone with the drive to do so can get everything they need knowledge wise and equipment wise to make music. But to have music become valuble again, break free from the " fame lottery"
( Dead idea) make music for yourself. Write a song for your girlfriend or wife or husband .
Put your self into it . Make a song for your best friend on their birthday that they only get a copy of
Make music valuble by making it special and personal.
Your not going to get rich make money or fukk sluts.
Have music be ABOUT music about YOU
Make music describing your life for someone you love .
You can write a song for each person special to you in your life which they are the recepiants if the only copy then delete your copy of it .

  14. We always do, all of us, at every point in time.

Why are your only links to old material? You tell us you have learnt a great deal since then, so where is the evidence? And what style are you working in? If it's jazz, I'm not interested. As legendary guitarist Mick Ronson said, if all you can do is play scales and notes with no feeling, you should have taken up being a draughtsman as a career.

The evidence is , you select any criteria under any conditions and then me and you will make " high quality" song then compare our results .
If you belive that style or genre impacts anything , go ahead and select any parameters you belive will handicap me and give you an advantage ( parameters we both must follow)
I think we should have some time time limitation also
( Screen shot the clock periodically start to finish )
You want a link to some my 20 year old music?
    https://www.jamendo.com/artist/340459/jacq
( I made the compilation in 2008. The songs written recorded 1997 to 2002 I just did some volume leveling and posted them on jamendo in 2008)

    If you take a Melody
    Let's say based on G7

D up to A slides up to B up to F
    All the way down to
B up to F slides up to G up to D ( landing note)

( Our melody describes G9 chord)

Now we are going to take this melody , and apply it to several separate sounds.
    1.violin
    2.bassoon
    3.piano
    4.acoustic guitar
    5.vocoder synth
6.saw wave with oscillating low pass filter q of 2
    7.a pad synth
    8.a full strings ensemble

If we audition the melody each one of these separate sound s and imagine
    Each one being the song.

Yes the " genre" would be different each time

    But the music is identical
    There is nothing differently musically.

What was changed each time was the timbre
    That's it .
This shows that genre is just a surface level aspect .
Nothing about the music has changed.

I'd like a jazz interpretation of the above.
