I have recently been using the Sphere Plugin as a Saturator of sorts on a couple of my personal mixes.
The results are actually pretty pleasing!

Of course they are nothing like what they sound like with the actual Townsend Mic, Or the Vintage Classics they are emulating.
But instead, Just some very nice results.

Anyone else thought about using this in such ways?

What are some of your guys Favorite [IN THE BOX] Plugs for Saturation and Harmonics.

 

I have some examples of this doing the 67 Emulation on a Rode NT1 Semi mixed if anyone cares to hear.

For tube: elysia phils cascade

Tape: satin

Multiband: saturn and ozone/neutron exciters

Destroy all the things: trash 2 and retro color rc-20

 

Here is the A/B I did it with 3 Different Mic EMulations . *EXPLICIT* I do apologize about the lyrical content Sometimes i get a little full of my self ahaha.

Anyways First a raw vocal will play Rode NT-1 Feed direct into Interface.
Then the same sample will follow with Just the sphere plug in active.

I used in this order . LD 251 - LD 12 - LD 49K

These are just a few though. The ribbon mic sounds insane and the smb emulation really brings clarity to the vocal. Even messing with the polar patterns brings really pleasing results!
The only thing that does not really effect anything is the proximity but that figures seeing how im converting a mono into stereo instead of the front back mic source.

Haha ill take a crack at it. Im sure if i wait around long enough it will go on sale again. They seem to like to discount that mastering bundle. People seem to like that black box HG whatever too. Havent tried that one yet either.

And yes satin is a beauty. Idk why satin and presswerk never get the respect that my ears say they should be getting. I guess the warez community dislikes Urs and the GS/KVR community sees it as old news.

I like to use Big Clipper From Ballz Digital on the master for some final phase harmonic stuff also. The aforementioned Vertigo VSM 3 might be where it's at for mix bus though.

u-he is top notch.
vsm is more versatile, black box is good as well, but more on single tracks and vsm shines more on groups or a mixbus, though only your imagination is the limit.
vitalizer is also handy.
