    Hi :)

I would like to make a deep house remix of a song that it's in 89 bpm and re arrange it to 120 bpm.
Any suggested plugins for changing the vocal tempo mainly and maybe some synths without affecting a lot the pitch? :(

I've heard from Melodyne, X-Form and Serato but honestly i don't know where to start... I have not much experience doing this, i have been working as audio editor in a radio station but like i said in the past week in my first post, i am a newbie entering in this world of producing, composing and remixing.

I'm currently working with Protools and Logic.

Currently i am trying with this but all suggestions, tutorials or courses are welcome.

    Thank you very much.

It's not a plugin but you might like the Radius algorithm in Izotope RX for changing the tempo and/or pitch. Reason I bring it up is it's got a very "tight" sound to it that would feel nice in a deep house remix.

I sometimes even use it on purpose just to tighten up loop elements or percussion and give it that modern glassy flavour.

Reaper has eLastique and a wide choice of other time-stretching/pitch algorithms (free). Some of these are weird and ultra CPU heavy but you might get unique results from them by printing them to audio.

It's really a matter of trying several and seeing which ones produce the type of results that would be most usable for you. The pitchshifting inevitably becomes part of the "sound" of your record, so choose wisely. Sometimes a low quality algorithm feels better for some things than the most advanced super RX deluxe one.

Thank you very much. Do you know where i can learn to use it properly? I tried with melodyne but it's a bit confusing still for me but i'm of course trying to do that.

Melodyne is a monster, it's like a nuclear reactor in there. Definitely not the first place I'd go when I want to creatively experiment with simple transposition for stems.

In Izotope RX, simply load your audio and then go to the "Time and Pitch" button on the right. It's a straightfoward dialog there, for pitch and BPM change. You get 3 different algorithms to try out. Hit the "Compare" button to create a few different versions and flip back and forth between them while you decide what settings work best.

In Reaper, the time and pitch functions are all hidden inside clip properties. If you open that up you'll see.

There are some VST plugs that do repitching realtime for really quick and dirty work, but naturally the offline methods will probably win out if you want high quality sound.

You're overcomplicating. There is time stretching built into the software you use, find out how to make use of it. It will always sound worse than the original tempo, the trick is not to use the whole song but parts of it so most of the sound is in full quality.

EDIT: I've quoted @statik response, but can't see it. screwed up

Sure thing, just try ableton and it's WARP modes, just drag the wav into one audio track in ableton, and mess around with the warp modes (for vocals only, try the Tones or Texture modes, try them all), then use the "Transient markers" to move specific parts to specific beats locations... i'm slicing a 89 bar vocal loop right now into small 4 bar verses right now... wish me luck cause it's sucks.
