Hey y'all, i just got this message pop up in a tab in my internet browser. i got it from using fabfilter saturn, downloaded on your favourite scene site. i use lil snitch and i checked the rules for it, but i can't recognise anything i should have blocked that i didn't.

    what shall i do?

    delete and reinstall?

please anyone, shed some light on this, is anyone else going through this?

    thanks in advance!

Your copy of FabFilter Saturn appears to be pirated or infected by a computer virus.
We recommend that you delete this copy and download a new version from our web site. Please let us know if you think that you have received this message in error.
Please allow us to take a moment of your time and point out some issues with using cracked plug-ins:
As a musician or producer, either you are able to make a living from your music, or you'd probably love to be able to. Of course, we want to help you make great music by making great software and giving the best possible support... But the only reason we are able to spend countless hours of our time to make the plug-ins you love is because people like you actually buy them from us.
Are you a student and short on cash? You don't need to use cracked plug-ins! We have great educational discounts.
Remember that pirated software often contains trojans or spyware that may scan your computer for valuable information such as credit card numbers, or even delete data.
We are not a big company. We don't have big pockets. We need to pay the rent like everyone else. Please do the right thing and buy a legitimate copy of FabFilter Saturn. It will be a great feeling! Thank you for your time.
    Buy FabFilter Saturn now
    Sincerely,
    The FabFilter team

Haha yeah it happened to me too ! I was scared !

But they do it to scare you... Now I use Little Snitch and everything's fine ! (This software is boring the first days, it always asks for any connection "Do you allow this one or not ?" but after that period you forget it's running...)

And I never faced that situation again so far.

staying offline completely is complete bs in my eyes, i can just delete and reinstall, but maybe someone knows which rule to setup for lil snitch, so fabfilter saturn can't 'phone home'. it's the only plugin giving me trouble @ the moment so... thanks for replying anyway.

Yeah staying offline is not really possible these days... You have always something to do (And sometimes it's a waste of time, I agree lol)...

So I don't know because I deleted and reinstall the plug-in, and it never tried to call home so far ! :dunno:

But that's weird it called home with Little Snitch activated... :wow:

My (noob) advice would be reinstall the plug-in and maybe reinitialize Little Snitch ? This time you will know if next time it tried again ! You probably allow it by mistake ?

The other guys will probably give you more technical advices than me

    Good night Amsterdam ;)

To both 'Little Snitch' and MAC OSX users,

I'm mainly a PC user, nevertheless a few months ago, I had a somewhat 'envenomed' discussion with a MAC OSX user that uses 'Little Snitch' very frequently (to not say all the time !) and who claimed that as I'm a PC user, I don't know anything about MAC and also about this wonderful program (according to his words !) named 'Little Snitch'.
He has also confirmed me that he feared nothing through his Internet connection thanks to this program...

Well, now come the interesting things for you, both 'Little Snitch' and MAC OSX users. Just pay attention at the following snapshot that explains exactly how 'Little Snitch' handle incoming network connections.

I've circled in red, probably the most important description about how it interacts exactly with your Internet connections and particularly with your own MAC OSX Firewall.

As you can clearly see it, 'Little Snitch' does not intercept incoming connections. They can be blocked with the built-in firewall of Mac OS X.

Of course, I can only guess that a vast majority of you have configured your 'built-in' firewall the way needed... but maybe not all the MAC OSX users have payed enough attention at this important fact... so BE AWARE !

And that's the reason of my comment. *yes*

By the way, the 'Little Snitch' FAQ (from where comes the provided snapshot's info) can be found here :

'Little Snitch' FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

    Hope it help !

Remember that pirated software often contains trojans or spyware????

And official software like TONE2 not? :snuffy:

Are you a student and short on cash?

LOL!!! They play the ignorant fools.... Many of the O' so serious + O' so honest recording studios are using cracked software too! :excl:

FabFilter products are quite good but very, very expensive!

Well since this is problem that we are all aweare off I went a step further.

I made a simple batch command file ( . bat) on notepad and added 2 commands :

Rem ** Network Stop service + Run app batch"

    @ echo off
REM next line stops the DHCP service in windows
    Net Stop DHCP
Rem **this line is for the daw path**
    C:\Program Files\REAPERdemoTestsreaper.exe
    REM end

Okay that is very simple now when you run the batch it will shutdown the DHCP service ( only temporary as another batch starts it again "Net Start DHCP" )

So this makes it really no need for a firewall since NO IP no network service!!!!

Make some simple text command batchs, just rename the text extension to .bat after your done

I often watch Youtube tutorials while having my DAW opened, so I like staying online.

Anyways, in my 15 years of warez use I never had any problem with programs calling home. The only thing which happens sometimes is that my Tone2 Saurus licence file gets deleted - but I can live with that, always have a backup copy right in the Saurus program folder. *yes*

first time i opened Saurus ... :wow: it deleted all my tone2 licenses and wanted to shut down the pc :snuffy: ...lucky the pc asked me if i want to close all programs and i chose cancel lol ...tone2 is a piece of shit, developer and the way they do it it makes me wanna use more their cracked stuff :bleh: ...that isn't the way you do it ...some developers today have figured out that its all a waste of time protecting their software in a too desperate way ... :dunno:

@dan ...mate could you elaborate that and explain more of it? seems interesting ...thank you ... :mates:

That never happened to me, but I do not have/use any other Tone2. :dancing:

Normally I download those Youtube vids as well, because all my bandwidth is consumed by my 'other' downloads and I cannot watch them online properly.

(I usually download 24/7 with my only machine, so I couldn't go offline anyways...)

look man, i said clearly that's NOT the solution for ME, since i have stuff to do online, while still using wares. i guess i'll have to setup my firewall properly and maybe reinitialize lil snitch rules too, might been i accidentially pressed allow or something.

if i can't work it out i'll check back in here.. great community, thanks for all the replies... bs or not lol

Regardless if you feel it's BS or not --- If you dabble in pirated wares and keep online when in the DAW -- you accept the risk.
Gaga is right -- Your best option is to have a dedicated machine for your audiowerk that should remain offline when possible (pirated softs or not !)
If that setup is not an option for you -- just say that -- no sense damning good solid advice. If you are serious about your music, you treat your
computer just as you should any instrument or piece of gear.

i understand what you mean and i don't mean to pull down anyone, i just said it's not the optimal solution for me, because i would like to be online and make music at the same time. i would like to look at alternative solutions because i can't afford a dedicated machine for music purposes only. plus i never had any trouble before, this fabfilter saturn is the only one giving me this stupid message, all of their other plugins work like a charm bro, u get the picture. some of you would get a dedicated offline computer for music and that's cool, so would i if i could afford it, but not now.. anyway thanks...

by the way any good alternatives to fabfilter saturn? might as well get another plugin that does somewhat the same thing.... suggestions?

Well, you don't know enough about either the Mac or basic computer terminology to know that MAC is an acronym for "Media Access Control" which, to put it simply, is a hardware address for your computer. Mac is short for a Macintosh computer made by Apple. I'm assuming when you're saying "MAC" you're talking about a Mac.

This is happening with Pro-Q³. and it doesn't matter if it's connected to the internet or not. I have a legit licensed copy, but it came on a hard drive that a friend who works for Disney gave me. (He needed a bunch of plugins for just one project, so he gave them to me.) I've blocked all outgoing and incoming connections to the coreaudiod and to the Pro-Q³ executable. I've also blocked all outgoing connections to the FabFilter site. It doesn't matter if I'm online or not. It will just do it. None of the other plugins, including Saturn, do this. I can't get support to help because I'm not the "registered" owner, even though he transferred it to me. Does anyone know how to fix this?

@xaosnox, I think it's very nice of you to reply to an almost seven year old post, but I'm afraid there's no profit in that. :winker:
