First gangsta rap song was from Philadelphia, by this guy (Ice T said he was a big inspiration for him, and you can hear that a lot in his first tracks)

This song is probably not the first of its kind, but you can definitly hear where modern trap take it's roots. As at that periode it was still an underground sound mostly find on local mixtape, there is not just one song that start the genre, but DJ Paul's work surely have it's influence on it (as well as DJ Screw mixtape)

And all this would not exist without that first rap song from 1941, already talking about gun and murders :)

How about "papa's got a brand new bag" which had been released 4 years earlier?

I have not been back to this wonderful thread in a while. That is a 1969 recording released in 1970. This song was released 2 years earlier:

First trance track , from 1990.
In my opinion, the genre was dead about 1995, had its high in 1993-1994, a lot of cheesey rubbish had been released, but there a few dozens of unique tunes that are listenable today, and of course trigger some long forgotten feelings. Not necessarily this tune posted, but it was the first, if you are not talking about the originators like Kraftwerk & Tangerine Dream that really started this sequencer music thing.

Good selection BUT don't forget KLF's What Time is Love (Pure Trance 1) from 1988. The original 12" is hard to find.

@Retrolize77 maybe you have seen this movie already. If you havent, when you have some free time watch it. Vince Clark is a beast. Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Erasure, The Assembly,Blacmange,The Clarke and Ware Experiment...This group Yazoo, with the song Situation was the bomb in 1982.

There is a lot of controversy as to the song's origin and inspiration. One thing i know is that Blue Monday is one hell of a song.

Listen to this song at 1:40 drums

    To this one intro

    How 'bout this:

I knew this song but not the name of the band that composed it. Thank you!
But for me, it's not heavy metal. It would be more like Glam Rock, in the spirit of what Slade did in the early 70s.
