    Hello everybody,
glad where this post is going
what i meant by songs that touch your soul (obviously or maybe not so obvious i should have chosen a better title) a song with lyrics that move you but not necessarily about love maybe social, philosophical etc
so no music only especially classical avant garde etc (what i call academic music )
or else i will certainly include
Beethoven-Appasionata (i have a recording by barenboim that just takes me to heaven)
    Debussy-Clair de lune
    Satie-the Gnossienne
Penderecki-Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima (i know it seems strange but in its context id does)
Stravinsky-The Rite of spring (kinda brings out the bad boy or the primitive soul in me)
Sergei Rachmaninov - Moment Musicaux Op. 16 No. 4
    Chopin - Fantaisie Impromptu
    and the list goes on
anyway i will check every song posted that i don't know as i am sure there are a few gems here and for that i thank you all
@SineWave i don't need a drink to shed a tear or two myself. i get emotional really easy especially when i read/watch about injustice in this world
i might suggest (to the new generation especially) check out leonard cohen and Simon and garfunkle lots of beautiful meaningful songs i could make lists only of songs by them
my next post might be best lines / phrases of lyrics from songs you like till then DREAM ON ...

Why not? Music is such a wide field. There's room in my soul to be touched deeply more than twice in my life. Really.
But that may vary from person to person.
And it depends on several factors like mood or overall situation.
It's funny but for me in a quite depressed mood, I'm far more sensitive for getting touched by music in general.
And sometimes in hindsight the next day couldn't understand why a song made me cry.

Here's my list for today :)
    Marc Cohn - Silver Thunderbird
    Runrig - Life is
Luciano Pavarotti - Nessun Dorma from Puccini's Turandot
    Haendel - Watermusic
    BAP - Verdamp lang her
Franz Schubert - Ave Maria sung by Barbara Bonney
    J.S. Bach - Orch. Suite No.3 in D maj
Melanie C - If that were me
    ELP - Lucky Man
Procul Harum - A Salty Dog
Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms
    Marc Cohn - Healing Hands
    Pink Floyd of course...

@Yellow Raven Great idea... memory keeps serving more and more of those :)

Just was reminded of a great albeit sad and horrific song on an entire Grammy nominated album that has No eq, compression or limiting and is held as one of the mostest bestest audiophile recordings.

Most classical music touches the soul, Ravel is my main guy. And time by hans zimmer is a tearjerker. Or try out the Ohm frequencies:

There's so many good songs... It's really hard to list just ten songs, but here you go:

Elliott Smith - Between the Bars
    Laura - Mark the Day
    Other Lives - E Minor
Agalloch - Our Fortress is Burning... II - Bloodbirds
    Defeater - White Oak Doors
The Ocean - The Origin of God
    Rosetta - Monument
    Monuments - Jinn
System of a Down - Highway Song
This or the Apocalypse - Charmer

I was wrong about all that after listening to heresay. I heard the drums being compressed and sleuthed around and found out that the was no compression, eq or limiting on her voice but the article didnt mention anything about anything else, just specifically the voice. It was recorded on an MCI 24 track machine so it has a natural levelling from that.

    Sorry, Tiger.

No worries, but thanks for the info. The drums were what really wondered me too. Nonetheless a very fine recording.
