I now connect the USB via the 2.0 port on the back of computer

Now this is where things go west



So I disabled device the restarted it and get this


The firmware flash doesn't open at all when clicked

 

so it's failing on two different systems and I'm taking for granted that the system is not a clone. It is two different installed Windows and it failing on both. Then either the interface is faulty or you need a usb power hub..or

One thing you should try if you have not done it already is to disable all the audio devices in Device Manager: AMD, realtech, babyface....everything. Then uninstall the Audiobox from device manager. Then restart pc and reinstall Audiobox driver. Maybe there is some kind of conflict with your audio controllers

Id your RME in class compliant mode? It can't be. If it is remove the cable, hold Select and Recall button down, plug-in the USB cable. This procedure changes between the CC and normal mode. When the LED Level meters don’t run up during power-on the normal mode is active.

 

Thank you Daskeladden for taking the time to help me out but now I have the Babyface up and running so I will either smash the USB96 to bits or get a USB hub I haven't decided what I am going to do yet but I won't waste any more of your time as I have something better to play with again thanks for the help really appreciate it

 

Well, that seems to have done the trick it was in CC mode I did what you said was able to flash it plugged monitors in XLR M-F and got sound
But then I disconnected the XLR ( to do a slight cable manage ) with BF still on and the sound disappeared again, in the end, I updated BF again although it was already on latest patch and flashed again and it is working again now so is it not advisable to unplug cables while the BF is still powered on?

Because I thought ooh here we go its working then I managed to screw it up somehow again
I will just leave the cables connected now and only disconnect when powered down saves me f+@king things up again

Dont smash it. Get a USB hub. BTW, I would take any old RME over any Presonus...and a lot of others, too. Sell both and buy a newer RME.

YVW. That CC Mode has caused lots of headaches.I should have told you that earlier but assumed that it was not in CC mode. You know what they say that happens when you assume.
