What is your opinion on the Flux range of products?

    So Flux has this cool deal where you can get the full bundle of products for a yearly subscription of $149. I'm thinking for my budget right now this is pretty good.

    I haven't used any Flux products aside from their transient designer (which has proven to be really good for me), but I wanna know how all their other products are overall.

    It might not be the best of the best, but if they are decent set of plugins that are pretty good and not shitty I'd like to know from others that have used and tried it...

    I have not experience with the products myself, I hope someone can give you advice. Even so, noone really knows your needs, why not simply try the bundle out and see if it worth the price for you?

    The EQs and compressors are high quality and have unique features. Using them a lot..

    They also tend to have finicky GUIs with 2 by 2 pixel buttons (or so it feels like on hires screens). Manuals are often either shit or nonexistent. You're expected to just know what everything does, since you're a pro if you bought these.

    The flux ePure EQ is nice, it's one of those "you almost can't hear it's EQ'd" style eq's. The Elixir (which is their full featured limiter) is one of my go-to's. Also very transparent and stays out of your way.

    Then again, the GUIs on both of those kind of sucks. You starting to see the theme? Even on the nice ePure EQ, adjusting it is retarded compared to a modern GUI like say FabFilter ProQ has. I'm onboard just because of the pretty sound I get from it.

    Another thing is that you'd think Flux products given their long and glorious history of being super expensive pro offerings, would be bug-free. They aren't and are sometimes a bit buggy in my experience, especially anything new they release like their Spat3D ambisonic mixing processor environment. They have that "release first, figure out bugs and add features later" philosophy.

    Bottom line, I would only get them if you tried them and now feel like you can't live without those specific tools since they appeal to you with their character.

    If you don't especially care about stuff having the "Flux touch", then for a general set of effects I myself would go with the Melda bundle. Tons of high quality tools, effects, some completely unique processors, and each of them has mind boggling tweakability and modulation potential built right in that will break your brain in a good way. It's the perfect set of tools to get if you want to go deep and get lost in them forever. You can forget about tools altogether, just focus on studying and experimenting with the Melda ones you got, there is infinite undiscovered potential there to mine. They have a consistent GUI that takes some time to get used to, but is powerful. Complexity level is even worse than Flux and often cumbersome but at least everything is resizable.

    Another great choices is Voxengo. More straightfoward and purpose-designed tools that won't break your brain or bank, and that have a lot of soul.

    If I wanted modern GUI, ease of adjustment, creative flow and amazing sound without all the fancy Melda stuff, I'd go for the Tokyo Dawns Lab compressors and EQs. These are a real joy to work with, get the job done, and sound great. No mind-bending processors or modulations that you need a PhD to understand, just very clever compression, and trusty workhorse EQs.

    Yea I have noticed that even their transient designer can be buggy sometimes...

    I have a 4K monitor so GUi might be a problem, lemme test one of the plugins out and see if I have any trouble.

    Manuals might suck but I'm good at figuring shit out since I have some experience mixing/mastering etc...

    The real standouts for me are the Elixir maximising limiter and Ircam Verb. Elixir uses multiple stages of low level limiting to build up a heavy crunch and is easily one of the cleanest maximisers I've ever used. Not for temporal lobe eplieptic EDM, more for real instruments and subtle textutes. The Ircam Verb is ghostly and adorable in a way very few algorithmic reverbs are. It's been compared to the Bricasti M7. Try before you buy. It's all a matter of taste and choice and it chews up CPUs like Popeye on the spinach.

    I find the compressors a bit fernickety and control dense. Good but too much detail. EQ's? Meh. I have the Massenburg for doing clean, and I like Fabrice Gabrel's AIR for loveliness. Good but then every EQ is almost the same.

    This one of the best comments I've read in a long time, at least one I can corroborate a great deal of it.
    I wish I can rate it winner and love it altogether.

    BTW, those interested to see how Melda plugs kick asses have a look at chandler guitar YT channel. I've had several boners just seeing the possibilities.

    Hmm, good question, not sure about that. Would be nice if you could do that but I think they just let you choose a subscription based model for provided bundles if you don't want to pay flat out...

    But maybe it's possible, might need to enquire more about it or look for further details...
