So i been working on a synthwave/chillwave song, and I am using the OB-xa Sonic Project oberheim synth for mid range sounds. My bass is like the standard arp saw thing... like the sound of Preset 1 on KORG poly6.

The shit sounds outta tune though, and it's like... I originally used the DIva. I have the LUFTRUM or Unfinished Synthwave presets, and though I make most of my sounds, I grabbed a quick bass arp from that... it was called "Fat Polysix" bass or something. That was the first bass and it sounded outta tune.

I switched to the actual Poly6, and still, sometimes doesnt sound right.

Aside from some filter/amp env changes, my mid range sounds (the audio which my brain is comparing to the bass) where all just oberheim presets. I didnt do any drastic altering of sound... so what im getting at is my other sounds have to be in tune... I didnt contort the piss out of them with cross mod or whatever osc mayhem one might mess with.

Voxengo SPAN sayin things are "in tune". There's TAL chorus on practically everything, which i know does something, but i always set that to mild amount.

Not sure what up.

 

workaround:
Bounce to audio (the track that gives you a headache). Then tune audio to fit desired key.

then move on to the next task

 

You should fix it by ear, by tweaking the osc's on the bass sound to sound right for the rest of the track.

If it sounds right, it is right -even if technically you had to detune.

Chorus effects distort the perception of pitch in weird ways sometimes. It may technically be all in tune, but everyone will hear it as off if you don't fine-adjust it.
