Yeah. Coz otherwise it's an instrumental reggae tune. Not "in Dub".
And, to be true to the form, that kick is hitting way too low. We don't need it that low in reggae or dub, at least in context with that bass guitar.
    Good though. Like it.
I've mixed live sound for Sly & Robbie, Jah Shakka, Eek-A-Mouse, Yellowman, and Desmond Dekker & The Aces.

    No dub...is called "Riddim"
I think the kick is a lil heavy around 45hz and 100hz take a few db out. Boost a couple db at around 3.k for the beater of the kick. That will give room for more mid range in the lower bass harmonics. That rimshot can go waaaay down like 4-6db / or just take out some 300hz, does not need to be so up front in mix. In the drum fill, the rim is louder than the toms. That would almost never happen in a live performance. Also if your still having problems, side-chain the kik the bass.

    Peace Love and Harmony

Legotron that"s pretty cool vibe. But as others have said ..now drop some echo bombs and reverb explosions (might not use springs in this case.I'd go for more of a 80's reverb) Use to play this game on a C64....ah good times. Check out some 80's Mad Professor for insipiration:wink:

Those freq's shouldn't even be there, imo! Especially 45Hz! lol
Wouldn't even need to do that if the kick wasn't going so low.
Bass guitar is always the lowest freq. Not the kick.

    Love that track!
How is the bass guitar not going lower than the kick in this example?
What I was saying is that the bass guitar is always bassier than the kick, yeah?
And I said you wouldn't need to eq 3K on the kick if you were to subtract the extreme lows instead; therefore revealing the click of the kick.

I love to play this track before I leave to get food in the city...Anyways, Ya I hear what your saying how bass usually is the main foundation, and supper subby. But on this bass ( Steel Pulse track above) I think its more of a low mid range cut (100-300hz) on the kick to make room for that mid range bass, up at around 600hz -1.2hz. With a small low low boost on the kick. 45hz jus a few db for the heart. cut the octaves up to the mudd of the bass......jus remember most tracks were not as supper bass heavy until sound systems came along...thats when bass got more subby and cranked up to get more people out to sound system battles. Could hear there sound system for a long distance. Idk lol, everyone has there own blends. Music is from the soul, mix until your heart and ears are happy =]
