    Really enjoyed this wip add a couple of impact fx's (white noise etc.) in your arrangement and a little eq'ing to clean the hiss in your mix and your on your way imo.

    Sounds really good apart from the hiss and autotune. The hiss I can put up with but the autotune makes it sound like any other pop song out there. Not unique! Take the autotune off and it's probably a really good song.

    I love this song. Obviously you know it's nowhere near finished, and you're not sure in which direction to take it and what aspects of the song you should be building on. Actually you when know a song is finished when all aspects sound good together. And the word 'together' is the most importand part of finished music. Music is not a thing made of parts, it sounds great because the parts have come together to make something wonderful. OK, so the first thing you need to do is imagine in your mind a physical place where is the finished song is playing...radio for instance. Why do songs sound great on the radio? Many answers. The most important answer is the emotion the song is creating in the listener. Why do the hit songs of female Pop Stars sound great? Many answers again. The most important reason is that their voice has been able to not only meld with the music, the beat etc., but punch through it. So how do you create that 'PUNCH' from the singer? You have to give the voice something to punch through. The track without the voice has to kick ass by itself. Finish that FIRST. The beat has to be ballistic, the bass has make your sexual organs vibrate, you have to really feel it bang. The music has to be clever, with stylish electronic things going on. If you don't have all these things in the music, how can the woman punch through it, femininely, but punch through it. Make her sound great by making her able to be more than the already very powerful music. This is what she does with a man, so you must give her something strong to overcome. There.. start your thinking here and see where it takes you.

    I basically agree with these comments.
    On the auto-tune matter, it's hard to say for me since I don't listen much modern pop hits. Personally I'd reduce its use to only improve the vocals, not to sound "auto-tuned".
    But if you want it to sound this way go for it, many pop songs nowadays do it.

    BTW, I like it :wink:

    Maybe cut the intro down to half, so the beat hits around the 1 minute mark or earlier?
    And maybe use the one string guitar bit that happens before the beat drops in a breakdown later on? Which would also serve to get to the meat of it quicker.

    Doesn't sound 'auto-tuned' to me. But just pitch-shifted.

    It's definitely autotuned Smoove Grooves. I'm surprised that you can't hear it!

    Pretty much the same age thing with me. But if he wants it to sound like this it's the producer choice.

    PS. You forgot to close my quote. Just a detail but can be confusing to other people to read.

    @DaVa-67 It's not that I can't hear it's usage! lol
    I just think of the T-Pain effect when people say it sounds auto-tuned; which I can't hear any of, is what I meant!
    Nothing wrong with it all actually being totally, strictly in tune, imo. Even if it does sound a bit unnatural.

    "That's where it just blends in with the rest of the muzak!"

    Ouch! @Xupito Did you really just call someone's music 'musak'? You know that is the term for what Acme created for elevator music, yeah?

    It was me that said it! I think it's a really good song but I can't get over the synthesized sound of the autotuned voice that turns it into muzak to my ears. I know it sounds terrible saying that but I'm an old fuddy duddy and prefer the natural sound as it keeps it original. All of the music I love has zero autotune. Even some of Bob Dylan's vocals can be slightly off tune but I love it for what it is, Unprocessed!

    Oh. It seems you've made your sentence part of Xupito's quote in a quote box.
    All modern music has been using autotune, subtley or otherwise, for the last 20+ years.
    These vox are definitely pitched up though, as I said.
    When people say vocals sound auto-tuned, it's usually the Cher 'Do You Believe In Love', semitonal, or less!, stepping of the vocal when a normal glissando would have happened, you know? Also called the T-Pain effect. Sorry if you already know this, and we are talking at cross-purposes! But you've just said you are an old fuddy duddy, so I'm not sure where you're at! lol
    As I said earlier, there is none of that here. Just strict tuning and and a pitched vocal.

    I grew up in the 70's when autotune wasn't even a word. I was born in 1967. The music that I am drawn towards is miles away from modern day highly processed music! To younger people, they may not even notice that the song they are listening to is autotuned to the hilt. It's just that they are used to hearing it that way. To me, I can hear it in an instant even if it is subtle.
    Is it an age thing or is modern music just shite compared to music of old?
    I guess it's in the ear of the beholder :yes:

    @Smoove Grooves you know what people mean with autotuned. It's just a general term we use and can be done with different methods, different software hardware, but the main effect is essentially the same. You can call it melodyned or z-planed if you fancy. I'm explaining it but you already know.

    No... :deep_facepalm: ... I have my hands full improving my English but that wasn't me lol
    Elevator music... wasn't that Bobby's music? :chilling::lmao:

    So did I. But born '73. So there's only 6 years between us...

    So can I.

    Yeah: the Cher/T-Pain effect! Not strict tuning...

    I totally disagree with you here. These are all totally different things.
    I don't want to tell you my credentials, but please look at what I've said.
    Most people in the industry who I work with do not refer to strict tuning as what you have.
    Plus, I think the most noticeable aspect in these vox are the slight pitch shifting I mentioned, which sounds cool, yet unnatural and synthesized.
