Tipps for Tape Plugins I use on the regular:

    Kramer Tape:
Unlink Input-Output Section, Turnup Input until you get like 3 dB of Gain Reduction, adjust Output accordingly and - most important - turn the FLUX knob to control the Saturation.

    Softube Tape:
Click the "RC-1 Remote Control" strip on the right and adjust the Input/Output Balance for a really noticable Satuaration. Because otherwise, Softube Tape is really clean and subtle.

@Iggy Just to clarify, I never said nor did imply that technology is bad or that good music can't be made with software. To the contrary. I explicitly stated that "the biggest difference between those records and today's record's has nothing to do with the gear that was used." In other words, whether it is analog or digital it comes down to how it is been used.

Reelight 2...Try Noise at low/average ASIO buffer, for example, 512....and you will hear digital ssizziziszsis.... Higher buffer, better... But i dont believe in this emulation... Not bad as saturation though

thing is with analog desks is that the mono sources are nicely bent together in the stereo space, you don't have that razorsharp separation as with digital. its something to do with the tolerances. brainworx done it right with their channel strip emus. you click on the random-All button and it randomises the whole mix (one plugin communicates with the others and they r randomised as well).

i've heard the cpu is through the roof with this one. thats no good man, you suppose to pu it across all channels to have the multitrack tape mojo, in it?

Just when I thought that I had the Tape part down with TAPEDESK.
Here we go again... With so much already out with saturation, console emus, and tape emus, I think the main consideration for me with T-Racks is the CPU usage, which in the past was too much for me.

For those who have never used tape... WOW! AMAZING! for those that have... meh! There isn't one plugin that does what tape does too many variables.

Read what I wrote again: my main disagreement with you was that samples and plugins versus live instruments were a fundamental difference between a good and a bad recording ...

... and I stated that there a few artists out there who had worked hard to make their keyboards sound like "the real thing". Every other point of your post, I agreed with.

Back on topic: I actually like u-he Satin, especially if you're trying to emulate multi-track tape. You can link instances across tracks. Idealistically, I'd want the UAD Ampex and Studer plugs.

What about Acustica's Taupe? I use it and love it, tons of flavor and mojo...
But I will try IK's when they... come out :)

What’s tape? Is it like scotch or packing tape? How do I thread it thru my iPad?

    hmm Ok!
I tried them last night and i tried quick compare with the uad Oxide tape recorder, Ampex ATR-102 and Studer A800,
I have to say that T-racks tapes are sound very good (while they hug the cpu) but UA emulations are still different! ua sounds bigger, wider and warmer and little bit different color ;)
i'd like the tape 80 punches on snare

Edited: It sounds like this to me :bleh:

    Nebula over all these.

  19. Which one? Out of the FORTY TWO tape emulations he offers, which one?

PS: I mean I love this guy and the work he does but he really needs a curator and a manual writer. Anybody who introduces a plug with the words 'now this is one where you can hear the difference it's making' is probably in need of help.
