This is a VERY random question, but I was just curiously wondering after I purchased an air freshener from my studio earlier. I bought some stuff called Smooth Amber Beats, which is a pretty masculine and opulent rum, mint and leather combo. I am in no way a fragrance connoisseur but I do like to be in nice smelling environment for some extra comfort within that place, and this smell does smell like what I would imagine Hans Zimmer’s studio would smell like

Anyone else bothered about the smells of their studio or am I the only one here that is this weird?!

Do you smell your home? No, but others do. Same goes for the studio. Nothing relevant because you do not smell it anymore a few weeks or months later.

I do like to set up some incense in my studio (live room-not control). Makes for a better vibe and I find it makes the clients happy.
Scent can subliminally change moods and I like to keep a good mood in my studio

 

Money.

 

1. Fresh air (open your window, fresh it up while you are not at work; if there are grass, trees, nature outside the window - it is great; if there are no people/cars etc and it is silent there - greatest. Also it is not so bad to work with opened windows - I don't pay attention if there is noise outside (maybe it is just almost silent where I am))

2. A smell of good coffee (in the morning, in the day, in the evening, in the middle of the night; I am a coffeeslut)

3. Also I like a smell of fresh newspapers, but it is never there)

4. Smell of desire to work all the time

P.S. oooh...stop...btw...why didn't I mention a smell of milk?)

One thing is sure: a studio should not smell too much, not matter what.
I had to go to the band's keyboard studio recently, he had one of those electric air fresheners in there. After
half an hour my tong was like soap, I had to ask him to turn the freshener off....

This thread screams derail.

But I like studios that smell like warm electronics and new gear (speakers, rack gear, etc). There's something about that "new plastic smell" that has eventually won me over. I used to dislike it.
Also, coffee (from grinded whole beans).

So in reality, no forcefully added smell. Just the smell you expect from a serious and somewhat clean studios (home studio or professional recording studio).
