Win7... if you go Win 10 u gonna regret it.
I reinstalled win 10 abt 5 times within 1 year. Its a piece of SHIT. The newer the version, the more problems.
Used several versions, wasted 20 hrs of "tweaking° and so on. I run mostly Cinematic libraries and Omnisphere + VEpro.
I always have 2-3 machines running. Latency is much better on Win 7 too ( older WIN7 versions) u dont need any WIN7 upgrade because it works perfect. Buy a small PC for daily routines like Internet, Movies, Videoeditings etc... with Win 10. But don't use it for Music making.
Win 10 is NOT faster, only boots faster with a trick.
Simply open task manager and compare what is running in the background.

With all respect, I totally disagree. I don't want to get off topic here but you jumped in here with that crazy 6 months and forgot that over 40 % of businesses are currently using Windows 7. Do you really think that developers are going to just drop support for them? That is where the big money is. Last year only 19% of businesses were using Windows 10. By just sheer numbers, Windows 7 is not going anywhere as fast as you claimed. From where or how do you come up with those numbers?

Is that the new name for windows 10?

Thats a good move imo. Windows 10 works and looks like crap compared to macOS.
There are so many tiny things which make macOS overall more useful... in my opinion and experience. The only negative thing about macOS at the momnet is that Apple suxx, and the uncertenty of the future, but hey it's with Windows 7 the same :)
One advantage of Windows is that you can legally use it on PC Hardware whereas you have to do something illegal when usinh macOS of PC Hardware.

  10. I think that, like those hospitals who are still stuck on Windows XP, that developers will charge the asses off anybody who wants to stick. It happened with 98, it happened with XP and it'll happen with 7. You want to stick, it'll cost you. You want the latest toys, you get with the program.

    Try both and choose yourself

The older Windows 7 gets the least likely it's going to run on newer hardware. Then you'll get stuck running it for years and years on outdated hardware wondering why everything's getting slower and slower over time.

Don't listen to ANYONE telling you to download certain "lite" versions of Windows. If YOU want to take that route, then research that YOURSELF and make the "lite" version YOURSELF with the tools that are out there to do it. Never get a custom build offered by someone else because you have no idea what could be in it and are going by what someone else thinks YOU would prefer. If that sounds like something YOU want to do. YOU can build it to what YOU want.

You don't have to listen to someone just because they seem to be liked around here and appear to know what they're talking about. It's about what YOU want. Not what they want to FORCE you to use because they think they're special. Or "computer repair experts" that have been "repairing" computers for decades. These are people stuck in the past and also want to force what THEY think is best. Doesn't mean it is.

ask google "problems with Win 10 installation" result 781.000.000
ask google "problems with Win 7 installation" result 339.000.000

now ask yourself how long does Win7 exist and how many ppl installed it, and compare to Win 10.

  14. Microsoft ended the sale of new retail copies of Windows 7 in October 2014. How many web pages, about problems that arose with installation five or more years ago are still in existence? Windows 10 is the current version.

"problems with Win Vista installation" 30,100,000

The most unpopular version of Windows ever.

    Probelms with Win 8? 737,000,000.

On the basis of which argument Windows 8 is better than WIndows 10.

Nice to see some people with their heads screwed on the right way, but there's also so much to just laugh at in these discussions.

I think they've stopped supporting my 1956 Fender Stratocaster; so I guess I should just chuck it in the bin then next to that poor old Stradivarius - made in 1725, so obviously it must be old crap. I wish I was lucky enough to own such gems.

But at least I do have many old XP boxes, many old W7 boxes, and a few hackintoshes, and some silly W10 toys too, and none of them will ever be obsolete. Obviously, I look forward to playing with tomorrow's toys too. Why on earth would anyone have anxieties over trying to choose between old and new? The old PC's are worth peanuts, but when well configured as 'dedicated' music boxes, kitted out with endless music goodies, they're golden - forever!
