Is it possible to use a MIDI controller to navigate through soft synth presets?

    @ MARJU GRLYO,

The MIDI 'CC 0' & 'CC 32' are used for that purpose. Now you must simply check if they can be set within Kontakt.
If not, you can certainly write (create) a specific 'Kontakt Script' for that purpose... *yes*

    For info :

    - 'CC 0' : Bank Select (MSB --> Most Significant Byte) followed by 'CC 32' & Program Change
    - 'CC 32' : Bank Select (LSB --> Least Significant Byte)

Hope it help in some way !

I know we can increment through them on kontakt with single click (of the mouse), and we often have to wait for them to load, but still single click increments, so I just wonder if the controller can target that single click. I am not convinced it will not do it from a controller, but yes I could not say for sure. I am going to start by googling this question. I may not be able to sleep now. LOL

So we are talking about custom mapping? Making the controller target the increment right? Am I following you on this? And when we test guys we would indeed need to give it time to purge and load the next. No sleeping for me tonight..... LOL But it's fascinating to me!

And too... think about this..... Perhaps they didn't make this part of the kontakt design because of the delays of load? Delays for load make it something that is not practical for live? I mean that's the application of manual patch change from the controller right? Live? I bet there is a way to map it but even if you got it to do it you'd not use it live because of the delay on load? So I wonder if we should be calling kontakt a softsynth. It's a sampler right? So probably is beside the point? For practical application controller increment is a live application and we'd not want to deal with such load delays. What say ye?

Kontakt 5 does support program change, but only for instrument banks. So you have to set up an instrument bank first.

Ah cool! That gives a good amount of flexability then I suspect. I will keep that in mind with tests. I am learning here! Very cool info share!

Most of them nowdays use a lot more than 128. They have their own system so you can load all your soundsets and navigate/search/categorize/rate inside the UI. Even older ones like Sylenth can load up 4 x 128. I've always had trouble navigating them without using the mouse.

It has been mentioned about presets here. They make a good point with this too. You can have 128 presets, or 128 of your own choices, which are then controlled by the controller. You'd be hard pressed to find it doesn't address your needs. It essentially covers it.
